Lyr Req: This is a long shot (Eddie...Brown)

Subject: Lyrics Wanted: This is a long shot
From: DHedges@prodigy.net

I was taught a folk song when I was a kid some 28 years ago. I can sing most of the song from memory. I would like to get a recording or charts or lyrics. The song is about a young boy who falls into a well. But his name is so long that it took too long to say his name. The boys name is (I'm spelling phonetically now):

Eddie-coochee-catcha-catcha-toesamary-tosanoma-sama-kama-wackie Brown

I'm not kidding, it was recorded. Anyone out there have a clue?

EDDIE -
CHORUS:
Eddie Kucha-Kacha-Kama-
Tosa-Nara-Tosa-Noma-
Sama-Kama-Wacky-Brown
Fell into the well, fell into the well,
Fell into the deep dark well

Susie Jones, milking in the shed,
Saw him fall and ran inside to tell her mom that

CHORUS

Susie's mom, making cracklin' bread
Called old Joe, to tell him that her Susie said that

CHORUS

Then old Joe put aside his plow,
Grabbed his cane, and hobbled into town to say that

CHORUS

To the well everybody came
What a shame, it took so long to say his name that

Eddie-Kucha-Kacha-Kama-
Tosa-Nara-Tosa-Noma-
Sama-Kama-Wacky-Brown
Who?

Eddie-Kucha-Kacha-Kama-
Tosa-Nara-Tosa-Noma-
Sama-Kama-Wacky-Brown
Drowned.

My older Brother dug a garden for Dad in 66 to pay for a camping trip and came home with: Eddie kucha kacha kama, tosanara tosanova, samma kamma wacky Brown, fell into the well, fell into the well, fell into the deep dark well. Suzi Brown, milking in the barn, saw him fall and went inside to tell her paw that, Eddie.............

I made him teach me what he recalled.

My Dad taught us this song as kids. Mainly as a way to keep us occupied trying to figure out how to say his name. But the lyric we learned were slightly different, but very similar. My sister & I still sing it & it amazes people.

This is crazy! I didn't think anyone remembered this song. I sang it in elementary school as well. (Elizabeth Holiday elementary) I could never remember the lyrics, just "Eddie cucha cacha cama tosa nera tosa noma sama cama wacky brown" fell into a well. Its so neat to know that other people share the same memories as me :)

I always sing it with a "well" at the beginning of each verse to have a more dramatic storytelling-style. The double well is funny.

Eddy Toocha katcha Kama tosa Nara tosa Noga Samma Kama WackyBrown,
Well, he fell into the well.
Well, he fell into the well.
Well, he fell into the deep dark well.

Well, Susie Brown was milking in the barn,
Saw him fall, and ran inside to tell her Ma that....

Well, Susie's Ma was makin cracklin bread, ran outside
to tell Old Joe what Susie said that...

Well, Then Old Joe, he put his plow aside,
Grabbed his cane, and hobbled into town to say that...

Well, to the well!
Everybody came.
What a shame.
It took so long to say his name that
Eddy Toocha katcha Kama tosa Nara tosa Noga Samma Kama WackyBrown
Drowned.

As a kid we always sang this at "Camp Fire Girls" summer camp. But our song was Anna Cucha Catcha Camma TosaNary TosaKnocka Samma Camma Wacky Brown, fell into the well, fell into the well, fell into the deep dark well..well, well, well....
There was pantomine acting out each part of the song. We never tired of doing it and teaching it to the newcomers each year!
1.Susie Jones, milking in the barn, saw her fall, ran inside and told her Ma that: Anna....
2.Then her Ma, making crackling bread, ran outside, to tell Old Joe that Susie said that: Anna...
3.Then Old Joe, laid his plow aside, grabbed his cane, hobbled down to town, told the town, told the town that Susie said that: Anna...
4.Then the town, ran down to the well..what a shame, it took so long to say her name that: Anna Cucha Catcha Camma TosaNary TosaKnocka Samma Camma Wacky Brown...drowned.
