14 Aug 03 - 09:39 AM (#1001860) Subject: Sir Roger in PTH replacement shock. From: Sir Roger de Beverley On Sunday August 31st Punch The Horse were due to play the Sun Inn, Beverley but have had to cancel. I, together with my friend Gifford Rolfe, will be playing there as a replacement under the name "Thin Ice". Gifford has been writing, performing and recording since the 1970s and has appeared on national UK radio and TV as well performing at the Edinburgh Festival. On the night he will be playing 6 and 12 string guitars and harmonica and I will be playing guitar, mandolin and harmonica – we will share lead and backing vocal duties. We also expect to be joined by a spoons player. The repertoire will consist of songs either written by or associated with the following artists: Sam Cooke, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers, Townes van Zante, John Prine, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Louvin Brothers, Uncle Dave Macon, Gifford Rolfe, Mickey Newbury, Ewan MaColl, Jez lowe, McGuinness Flint, Neil Young, Jesse Fuller, Trad, Steve Earle, and more. We start playing at 8.45pm and will finish around 10.45 – hope to see some of you there, if it is not too far to travel. Roger |

If not, I'm sure that we can manage something given that we don't waste time with such fripperies as rehearsing. Rog ps Is that your guitar and mandola that have been sitting upstairs in the Sun since your First Sunday session? |

22 Aug 03 - 08:05 AM (#1006396) Subject: RE: Sir Roger in PTH replacement shock. From: Fatboysteve Greg I am Steve, the landlord of the Sun Inn, Beverley. We have been supporting folk and acoustic music since taking over the pub in March 2002 - every Sunday night we book live acoustic acts to play free for the customers. As well as running our acoustic workshop and one of the Sunday afternoon sessions Roger has played the Sun several times on his own and as part of duos and trios. his mix of folk, country, rock and pop always gors down well. Why not come down on the 31st and see Thin Ice? Entry is free - all we ask is that you turn up, buy a drink or two and join in with any choruses and singalongs. Our website www.suninnbeverley.co.uk will show you who else we have on in the future and what sessions run throughout every week. Steve |

30 Aug 03 - 07:07 AM (#1010710) Subject: RE: Sir Roger in PTH replacement shock. From: Bassic Hope you dont get a "Shock" from your "Replacement" ears Roger *G*. So you are paying all that money in order to hear those screachy whistles and scratch fiddles??? Some people would pay good money to have them filtered out!! Anyway, on a serious note, good luck with the new technology, I understand from other users that they can take a while to fine tune and get used to, but they seem to be very successfull for most people. It gives you something else to blame for bum notes, out of tune singing etc eh!! (Not that that is a problem for you though being the maestro of the mandolin and vocal gymnast that you are:-) So, all the best and hope Sunday goes well, may not get chance to call in between Shanty fest and NIKNAKS do but will try.
