ADD: The Lighthouse (Thank God for the Lighthouse)

From:

Hope this is the THE LIGHTHOUSE my friend is looking for..
Found it in a box of Gospel Tapes I had forgotten about.

The Lighthouse
Singer: Ron Fussell

There's a lighthouse on a hillside
That overlooks life's sea
When I'm tossed, it sends out
A light that I might see
And the light that shines in darkness now
Will safely lead me thru the night
If it wasn't for The Lighthouse
My ship would sail no more.

CHORUS
And I thank God for The Lighthouse
Well, I owe my life to Him
For Jesus is The Lighthouse
And from the rocks I've seen
He has shown a light all around me
That I might clearly see
If it wasn't for The Lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be.

Ev'rybody that lives about me
They said tear that lighthouse down
'Cause the big ships they don't sail this way anymore
There's no use of it standing 'round
Then my mind goes back to that stormy night
When just in time, I saw that light
Yes that light from that old lighthouse
That stands up there on the hill.

CHORUS
And I thank God for The Lighthouse
Well, I owe my life to Him
For Jesus is The Lighthouse
And from the rocks I've seen
He has shown a light all around me
Oh, that I might clearly see
If it wasn't for The Lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be.

He has shown a light all around me
That I could clearly see
If it wasn't for The Lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be.

According to this page, the song was written by Ronnie Hinson Copyright © 1971 -- but some sources spell his name "Henson." The song plays on that site, too.

This gospel is in Gospel's Best~Words and Music (Hal Leonard, 1983, p. 182) and Gospel's Greatest (Word Music/Hal Leonard, n.d. [?2000], p. 160). Both says "Words and Music by Ronnie Hinson" (© Copyright 1971).

I heard the song played on the daystar channel at night and it said The Lighthouse was written by Kim Predisiki.

Not to be confused with the one Nanci Griffith recorded starting "There's a lighthouse in the harbour"

Goin', Gone
(Pat Alger, Bill Dale & Fred Koller)

There's a lighthouse in the harbor
Giving guidance with its light
But, I had no one to return to
As I wandered through the night

From the first time that I saw you
Standing silent by the shore
I knew my search was over
And I would look for love no more

[Chorus:]
Deep in the waters of love I am falling
Sinking like a stone
Deep in my heart I can hear love callin'
Goin' once, goin twice, goin' gone
Goin' once, goin twice, goin' gone

There's a ship on the horizon
Makin' it's way against the wind
From the place where I stand watching
I swear my ship is coming in

[Chorus to fade out]
