From: Sandy Mc Lean I don't know the song, but was it about the "ice boats" that carried the mail from Nova Scotia & New Brunswick to P.E.I? These were not ice boats as we know them today. When the Northumberland Strait would become clogged with drift ice, brave souls would row these boats over the open water and then drag them over the ice flows. In the early days this was the only escape from total isolation during P.E.I. winters. It seems a great subject for a song! Sandy |
