Coach & Horses Session Barton bad news?

The session at the coach & horses in Barton UK may well be on the move. The landlady (Jo) is being stiched up (alegedly) by the brewery and may be given 24 hrs notice to quit. Basically this is because she took on a fairly run down pub and has turned it around into a succesful pub. The brewery who own the place are planning a refurbishment and we all know what that means and are basically pricing Jo out of the market. They may well have someone lined up to take over from her a *golden boy" so to speak. Jo has found a new home for us should she loose the battle to keep the place on - watch this space.

So turn up next week to show her our support please - she's been good to us and will continue to be for as long as she can.

If she is kicked out by next week there will be a notice on the door as the pub will be closed - the alternative that SHE has aranged for us is the lounge in the George which is on the corner of the market place - but we may have to change nights. Perhaps someone in Barton can keep an eye on the situation?

Damn shame if it goes belly up again. Thanks for keeping us up to date.(It's a hell of a drive from Lincoln if it's not on). I'll check here next week, but hope to be there, show support, enjoy the company, drink Uncle Arthur's Patented Thirst Remedy etc

Yes indeed, it seems the Barton session is jinxed - six years in the same pub, then despite a very enthusiastic landlady a distinct possibility of being evicted from our second home. And we've met plenty of new friends in the Coach & Horses, also the grub is THE BEST ever at any session!
As a Bartonian I'll be keeping an eye on the situation and will report any changes before next Tuesday.
Daithi, keep your whistles moist - or dry, whatever you do with them - I don't intend to let this stop me making a 'bohran' nuisance of myself to your livelier jigs!
Everyone, do come if possible, variety is the spice of etc. and the food really is free and great!

If your venue shuts ,there`s the white hart campton just on the outskirts of shefford,it used to be the best jam session in beds a few yrs back .ex player there, (guitar-banjo)i know a good venue is hard to find and when you`ve got one you want to keep it.

Plonker, old love, I appreciate your well meaning concern, and I wish we were domiciled near the lovely Rona Gaddes of Shefford, but we are in Barton-Without-Hyphens, in the former peoples' republic of South Humberside. I thought I'd better tell you before that rough boy Oakley starts slinging insults about soft southern hyphens. Thanks, anyway, mate.

David from Cologne is over and will be coming to the session tomorrow night - remember him the really ace fiddle player who was at Mine and NikNak's birthday bash back in January.

Yes, it all seems ok for tomorrow, landlady has said she will certainly be open so let's make it a good one. Anyway, those who attend will find the food excellent. And a new face or two is always welcome. Look forward to seeing David from Köln, how about Daithi from that Lincoln?

You got jet lag again ET? Ferreshh - it's tonight at the Coach and Horses, Barton-sans-Hyphens-or-pretentious-French-bits-in-the-title.

I have got a brilliant fungal rash. It looks like the outline of Nepal.

Where does all this stuff and nonsense leave our co-interest group the bison? Is it ROAR to the RAOB too?

I had a quiet masonic word with the youthful James at the Six Bells in Barrow, and yet again he has offered us the music room if we want to move our Tuesday session there. I, for one, do not want to dignify the nasty brewery with our business after they've 9allegedly) hoofed Jo out, as she has been so supportive of us, so I shall not be attending after her departure.

In the meantime, let's hope for a heatwave this evening, and make it a big one.

There won't be a session there after she departs skipper. Oh we could still use the room as will the RAOB but we and they would be charged for the privilage. That's why Jo found an alternate venue for us.

The Ayatollah has negotiated a further week at the C&H, as Jo has not yet had notice served. What a sorry sight to see the Buffalo ephemera ripped out. Where has the herd gone? Does any other public house understand care in the community? What will we focus on in the idle moments of playing? These questions, and more, can be answered next week, at the Coach and Horses 9Barton)

Will do my best to round up North Bankers next week. To Bloke in Corner a problem - memsahb is bringing a tin of oven cleaner with the instructions written in German seeking a translation!   It plays in B flat only.

I think the Buffs have all decamped to Oaklet's residence where they are forcing him to play Twister under the hypnotic glow of disco lights whilst flagellating him with mallets. That is the reason we've not seen him for ages. Shall we mount a rescue mission?

Sorry - it is very difficult to type in falconry gloves with gold embroidery around the cuffs and a mallet up my bottom.

Think we have the answer to the dissappearance of the four legged beasts with big horns. Noticed tribe of Inguns at the back of the Coach & horses about a week a ago.

Well known as a polyglot - and as yet unapprehended for polyglottery by Knacker of the Yard - I will be pleased to help Eric with Teutonic translations. Trouble and Strife obviously been shopping at Lidl, then, Eric.
Great to see plenty bodies there Tuesday, let's make next week a good'un.
And please, Oaklet, whatever you may have in your fundament - and yes, I DO know why the Pet Shop Boys were so called - there are delicate spirits among the regulars on this thread, Ayatollah to name but one, so please, keep your filled bottom out of here!
Though it might be funny to see him sit down.....

According to Jo, Coach and Horses is OK for next Tuesday(7th Oct).Tuesday after that (14th Oct)George landlord (Lee) says there will be a warm welcome and grub. Jo is happy with that, in fact I saw them both in the George today. Is there tabloid type chemistry there? Skippy, or someone nearer 18-30 syndrome than I will no doubt pontificate and share conclusions. The George near the bar is a bit of a toilet, but we would be some way away through an eating area to the right.
               Directions:
Entering Barton from the Scunthorpe/Bridge/A15 direction, turn right at the bottom of the hill mini roundabout toward the 'market place' car park in the centre. The George is on the left before you enter the 'market place'. There is a pub car park before the Pub. You will probably miss this 1st time, but don't worry. There is plenty of on street parking beyond in the 'market place'and down George Street to the left. The actual pub frontage is down George Street to the left.
Ayatollah Jay'bee is impervious to Oaklet's words, but He (peace be on him) has instructed me to heat up my poker in readiness.

I have just realised, with as much surprise that I discovered that I hadn't been to the khazi since putting out from St John's a week before, that I have yet to locate the latrines at the Coach. I blame the laughing policeman, who used to decant me from the third world bog in the Sloop and drive me home of a Tuesday.

Understand from Mr Twiglet that a number of north bankers are intending to make the southward trek to the George next Tuesday. I too have misgivings about the venue, but as Oaklet once said to the Twillingsgate connection, just suck it and see. Apparently the poor woman has never been the same, something to do with Strepsil Extra Strength and frequent visits to the confessional. And she's C of E!
