I saw him at Saltburn - first time I'd seen him - and he struck me as a genuinely nice guy who is sick to death of people asking him to do THAT song. Which is good because he has done so many others that are equally good, if not better. Ask him to do Gift of Years it's guaranteed not a dry eye in the house and it's far more evocotive that THAT song.

Technically - the sound (in a small, hot, packed hall) was wonderful, just him, his friend and two guitars. It's simple, not overworked and they both have lovely voices. Of course, that may be down to the sound guy who was, I have to admit, superb (and cute too) considering what he had to stage in so small an area, but as I was fairly near the front, I got first hand sound as well as amplified sound, and it was pretty darn good.

Go and see him, if only because, as we've been reminded recently with the deaths of so many great voices, he might not be this way again.

He was bloody brilliant at the Herga Folk Club special Concert in Watford, 24th July. Thanks to Tim and George who sponsored the event we had a magical evening with some of the Herga residents providing support. Fantastic!

I wasn't aware of his music until recently but went to see him at Watford and enjoyed the evening so much that I went to see him at Hitchin as well! Both he and John Munroe work so well together and their voices blend beautifully. He is a very talented, very funny man and I hope I get a chance to see him again at some time. My favourite song is One Small Star, and I like the way that he explains why he wrote his songs - it gives so much more to the experience.

The supporting acts at both venues were really good as well and helped make both evenings memorable.

John Munroe is touring in Britain next year and, from what I've seen so far, will probably be worth looking out for.

I wanted to see him at Cottingham-Live, but they was sold out! ;-(
He is one of my favourite songwriters.
No Man's Land,
Waltzing Matlida etc are classics.
