My calendar says today is the day of Mudlark's hip surgery, so I just wanted to send her some good thoughts and wishes for a successful outcome and quick recovery.

Take care, Mudlark!

Thinking of you and wishing you the best, Nancy! From one former resident of northwest Arkansas to another -- speedy recovery and love to you, and your little dogs, too.

Ditto what Giac says, Mudlark. I'm sure your surgery will be just fine!

Last we heard she was planning on having the surgery on October 21 but things were still fluid. We plan on visiting her as soon as the weather cools down where she lives which should be any day now.

Oops, thanks, Bev and Jerry. I'd written it on my calendar when she first was getting ready for it and I guess I missed an update. Well, we'll leave a Light on for her in this thread, eh?:-)

Gee, thanks a lot you guys, and thanks to you Kat, for starting this thread. And aren't I lucky to still be here to read it! I'm printing it off to take to the hospital with me on Oct. 21. Had so many different dates/surgeons lined up for this it must be a bit confusing, but I've finally zeroed in on guy/place I feel most comfortable with.

I'm lucky enough to have an English friend coming to take care of my corgis while i'm gone. She may log into Mudcat as she was with me last year for the the Secret Santa saga and enjoyed it very much vicariously. She's a real city girl, has never had a dog, and is more than a little nervous about taking care of 3 of them, and 5 acres out in the middle of nowhere, especially as she doesn't drive. I've arranged a cadre of friends and neighbors to take her to the nearest KMart, her favorite hangout, whenever she needs a fix.

Getting busier by the minute, trying to tie up all lose ends before I'm out of commission for a while, but I'll be around Mudcat until the last minute. Thanks again for all your kind wishes, all the more useful to me now that I can carry them with me, in head and heart, while girding for this. You guys are great!

Nancy

Amos...yes, well...now I AM sorry I've shared with her all my trials here! I'm sure she's remembering every one including snake killing, tarantula wrangling, skunk shoo-ing, septic tank back-ups, and electrical failures. At least I've borrowed some heaters for her stay...she's never chopped firewood or made up a fire either, and I sure don't want her to have to start now. (:@

What?? Never made up a fire?? Surely she can't see this lifetime through without adding that!!?? Must get her taught right up!

If you handed her a bag full of Peat she'd probably know what to do with it!
