Ah, the famous/infamous/at-least-well-known "nail in the pale" ?

I would love to see it (the song, not that ugly thing an lar).

if nobody likes it, why was it built?
didn't it win some composition for a millenium design, something to replace Nelson's Pillar??
I quite liked the "floozy in the jacuzzi" outside the GPO
where was she moved to?
I don't go to Dublin much and am not greatly up-to-date on these things
While we wait for "Balladhead" to return, does anyone else have a song on the topic?

My mind was running on the lines of a "spike" as being a place where people kip when they are down and out (as in this piece by George Orwell).

But now the penny drops - this time it's that hi-tech thing they put up in place of the Pillar.

Maybe it'll get launched into space too some time. Maybe as a celebration when Partition is ended.

THEY BUILT UP NELSONS PILLER BOYS - UNTILL WE TORE IT DOWN
WITH DYNAMITE AND GELIGNITE HE CAME TUMBLING DOWN
AND THATS THE WAY WE LIKED IT LADS - TILL BERTIE CAME TO TOWN
WITH THE CHEEK TO BUILD THE SPIKE WHERE THE HOMELESS LAY AROUND
AND AS FOR PLANNING PERMISSIOM BOY WE ALL KNOW HOW IT GOES
BUILD WHAT YOU LIKE IN DUBLIN ONCE YOU HAVE THE DOOE
POLITICAINS THEY CARE NIL THE CONDITIONS WE LIVE IN
ONCE THEY'VE TRERE BIG BROWN ENVLOPES TO PUT THERE BIG BRIBES IN.

CHOURS
YOU TOOK OUR CELTIC TIGER AND YOU STABBED HIM IN THE HEART,
SO NOW TAKE YOUR SPIKE OF SILVER AND SHOVE IT UP Y-O-U-R
ASK THE RICH HOW THEY GET RICHER WHILE WE ALL GO DOWN THE PAN
WITH YOUR PPF YOU NDP AND YOUR LONGTERM PENCION PLAN

IF ANY ONE WANTS THE FULL SONG WITH CHORDS JUST EMAIL balladhead@yahoo.co.uk

I think you've nailed this one!

But consider sharing more verses.
