Chad Morgan (The Sheik of Scrubby Creek) has been a pretty durable performer on the Australian scene, with his good-natured parodies of the country music scene (or himself .. ?). I memorized it from a live performance, long ago, so a few words were bound to be a bit different. I wish my memory was as good about where I put the coffee I was just drinking or my glasses. H Windom. Music, Gussie L. Davis. Copyright 1893.) The wedding bells were ringing on a moonlight winter's night. The church was decorated. All within was gay and bright. A mother with her baby came and saw the lights aglow. She thought of how those same bells chimed for her three years ago. "I'd like to be admitted, sir," she told the sexton old. "Just for the sake of baby to protect him from the cold." He told her that the wedding there was for the rich and grand, And with the eager watching crowd outside she'd have to stand. The only thing they have in common is that several people in the wedding party die - and not the same ones. By the way anyone singing the Gussie Davis "Fatal Wedding" might like to try it to the tune used for "The Wreck of the FFV" It works better. |

Gaskin's 1983 hit The Fatal Wedding and found this Step into my time machine week 89 George J. Gaskin. Born in 1863, he became so popular in the close of the 19th century, he was known as "the Silver Voice Irish Tenor" (how's that for a catchy nickname?) Among the #1s he had this week were Slide Kelly Slide in 1892; The Fatal Wedding in 1894; The Sunshine Of Paradise Alley in 1896; On The Banks Of The Wabash in 1898; and My Old New Hampshire Home in 1899.
