Say It Isn't So, Not The Banjo

I hate to let this one go, but I gotta!

I have placed my Vega Long Neck (by Deering) up on Ebay for auction - check it out here. I hate like hell to do it - but it's just the right move to make, assuming I can sell it for enough.

It is a much better banjo then I will be a player, I do too many short haul trips at festval and other venues, lugging that and other heavy gear, and something small, cheap and light weight will do just as well for that purpose. So ... it's up on Ebay.

Maybe I'll get lucky and it won't sell!

I'm certainly not going to buy it. Good luck!

Jed:

You can weather a pinch now and then, but the chances of replacing that beauty at what you'll get for it look slim to me.

You sure you want to sell it?

I wouldn't, once I had it. Not my business, just offering a comment.

Dunno about how good you're gonna get. I am a lot better instrumentalist than I was at your age and I didn't plan it that way.

It's not without regret that I let it go, but I am sure it's OK if I can make the price. I don't really need the long neck anymore. Banjo really is a "second instrument" for me. I love it, but I'm a much serious guitar player then I am a banjo player. A couple of small, cheap banjo or two would do just fine for the shows I do. I know this one is perfect for stay at home and play or for studio work. But it really ain't a performance instrument for me. It might be worth the effort if I was a more serious banjo player.

Maybe it's just time for a change. When I had an "adult job" I could afford to add insutruments without selling the old ones. These days that ain't in the cards ... yet.

Youre starting bid may just be high enough that it won't sell. Could be wrong though. In any case, I have emotional attachments to a few instruments I probably won't do justice to and probably should sell. I admire your ...whatever it is...that makes it possible for you to make the decision. I need some of that.

... hmmmm, had a lotta lookers; no bidders or email questions yet. Maybe it won;t sell. I'd be OK with that
