09/03/98 dia dhuit! looking for words in Irish for song titled An Ro/gaire Dubh. It is related to jig called The Black Rouge. I have heard on RTE recording Blas. Ta/ mo sto/ca is mo bhro/g ar an ro/gaire dubh 3x Ta/ thi/os ina pho/ca an blian isan la/ inniu.

An dheachaigh ar an sleibhe an ro/gaire dubh 3x Ni/ ghabh leis an bho/thar i gcongar an cnoc.

Da bhfeicfasa amarach (tiegh?, tighe) bhaile chun tra/ 3x Is a dha chosa in airde an ro/gaire dubh

of course there are haigh diddle haigh diddles between each verse. this is the best I can do. can anyone improve

I don't have a copy of the lyrics of the song in 'The Journal of the Irish Folk Song Society', #19, p. 8. This is listed in the Irish folk songs in journals file on my website.

In file T1 on my website are ABC's of the tune under 3 titles, "Blarney Castle", "Johnny McGill", and "Black Rogue" (in Gaelic), as well as "The Basket of Oysters", a cross of "Greensleeves" and "Black Rogue", c 1800. click for my website
