Does anybody have the lyrics to "The Price of the Pig?" It is sung to the melody of "Tatter Jack Walsh," a wonderful jig.

See DT file PRICE OF MY PIG. No source named or tune given.

The melody I have heard it sung to on the recordinTraitional Songs and Singers from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann of Eddie Sweeney lists the tune as THE THREE LITTLE DRUMMERS.

Looks like I posted that version. I would have learned it from Phil Callery, of The Voice Squad. The tune was indeed Tatterjack Walsh. I'll see if I can check where Phil learned it.

This is one of 4 or 5 songs that Frank Harte taped for me about 23 years. I know noyhing else about it.

I do not know the song or the tune mentioned but it sure resembles Nell Flarherty's Drake as done by The Clancy Bros. and Tommy Makim. (also in DT) Is this the same tune?

Also The Humours of Whiskey that Robbie O'Connel sings would seem to fit. Similar to Nell's Drake but slower and more ornamented.

This could probably fit to any number of jig tunes. the recording I have after playing both THE THREE LITTLE DRUMMERS and TATTER JACK WALSH resembles neither jig completely. The first part of the tune sounds like the first part of THE THREE LITTLE DRUMMERS. The second part sounds more like the second part of THE HAG WITH THE MONEY.

The words are common on 19 C. ballad sheets. I see one mention of a tune in an Irish book published about 1910 - no other details.
