An article in the latest New Scientist magazine gave info about

cellphone software which allows a musical jam

It refers to technology invented to have mini jam sessions via mobile phone.

If you want to try it out on their website go here:

Daisyphone - A Group Music Interaction Tool

I haven't tried it out yet, but I am just about to.

Yes, well, the main aim is to make people use their phones more. This way you would have to be connected for the duration of the jam session, I imagine, unlike text messages.

Well, I thought I'd at least get some "what is the world coming to" type comments on this.

I'll start using digital cell-phones when the service in our area gets to the point the analogs were six years ago.

between the wierd "echo effects, the loss of about 25% of every word and the fact that there is no connection in about 50 of the locale....

why pay for them at all?

I lose service at least 10 times on my drive to work - and have to leave my cubicle to make a call on the work cell phone.

but I dopn't pay for it...

MMario,

In Oz we are fairly well covered for digital phones now, although not all remote or out-of-town areas have it. I don't use mine much anyway. I don't give people my number unless I absolutely have to and I hardly ever turn it on, and that is only when I am expecting a call, or if my car breaks down (not often).

Thanks, smallpiper, it's nice to get the response I was expecting. ;->

I was also expecting someone to say that it is not really music too (hint, hint) although it is quite a nifty little programme and worth checking out the daisy wheel arrangement of the notes. Someone has too much time on her/his hands, methinks.

Seriously - they switched our whole company from the analog cell phones we had to the digital - but the digital service plain out *sucks*.

Which is part of the reason I am chained to my desk - I used to be able to get up and carry my cell phone - and people could still reach me. I can't trust the digital - so have to stay within arm's reach of the desk phone.
