Hi, Night Owl - sometimes, I think it would be a great idea to post the lyrics of every John Prine song here, along with everything by Greg Brown, John McCutcheon, Gordon Bok, and a host of others. The Prine Shrine that Sandy linked to has a pretty complete collection of Prine lyrics, so maybe it's not necessary to post them here, and it's more appropriate to post links. It's certainly not inappropriate to post Prine songs here, if you like, especially if there's a discussion of the song going on. What do other people think?

Joe,

I think the Prine Shrine is a wonderful resource. I also suspect that it is someone's volunteer work and is not organizationally supported. That means it could "go under" at any time.

When I go back to old threads in a search I commonly run across links that go nowhere because the site no longer exists.

Therefore, I think the DT should keep Prine songs as whenever they come up on a thread. That way his most popular work will get posted. I would not send Dick off to copy the whole Prine Shrine. Not every song John did was wonderful.

Big RiB (and a real Prine fan)

Yep! Here they are:

You come home late And you come home early You come on big When you're feelin' small You come home straight And you come home curly Sometimes you don't come home at all

Chorus:

So what in the world's come over you? What in heaven's name have you done? You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness You're out there runnin' Just to be on the run

Well, I got a heart that burns with a fever And I got a worried and a jealous mind Well how can a love That will last forever Get left so far behind?
