It was a free gig in a pub, and - expecting a big crowd - I arrived an hour before the doors opened. When the doors finally opened, I was in a queue of one! Anyway, the band was great, and I was particularly impressed with John charging from one side of the stage to the other while playing the fiddle. I used to like his column in the sadly long defunct " Frets" mag. |

This is a relatively new series in the San Diego area and the presenter has really worked very hard to put on these concerts. It would be great for this person if folks came out and let people know about his series. Besides, John McEuen is a legend! disclaimer: I do not know the presenter at all, I actually live on the opposite side of the country, but he has shared some of the frustrations of trying to present good acoustic music in a public forum I subscribe to. I'm the presenter of this concert -- part of a still new series that has had four great concerts, with each one outdrawing the last. John will be the biggest name and, I hope, draw the biggest crowd. I doubt if I'll be able to join and participate in this forum.
