06 Nov 03 - 01:26 PM (#1049308) Subject: RE: BS: baby needs lullabyes From: GUEST,ClaireBear Here's one I wrote for my own wee one. I sing it every night, calling the quarters to protect him. It's a version of All Through the Night: Martin's Welsh Lullaby Sleep, my child, and peace attend thee All through the night. I call guardians to defend thee All through the night. From the east, the wind and weather, South the sun, and west the water, From the north, the earth our mother All through the night. Drift, my child, on clouds of slumber All through the night, Azure, crimson, jade, and umber All through the night. Guarded by the owl unsleeping, Cat a-prowling, frog a-leaping, And the bear who watch is keeping All through the night. Dream, my child, no fear nor sadness All through the night. Only love and warmth and gladness All through the night. Softly breathing, gently sighing, Nothing wanting, no more crying, In thy peaceful bed a-lying All through the night. I just sang it for the little one. Who's next? Claire PS BW -- Knowing a name would help; it makes it easier to send the blessing. |

Lyrics copied from http://www.hanksnow.com/lyrics%20pages/goodnightlittlebuck.htm with some corrections. You can hear a sound sample at Barnes & Noble. GOODNIGHT LITTLE BUCKAROO (Hank Snow) You're a tired buckaroo little pal, You've been ridin' hard all day little pal, Soon the sandman will be callin' As the twilight shadows fall And you'll go ridin' down the Milky Way. CHORUS: So lay your curly head upon your pillow While your faithful dog stands watching over you, Close your tired little eyes While I croon a lullaby, And you'll ride the trail to dreamland, buckaroo. Mr. Moon is shining high up above, And your eyes they soon will close my little love, So sweet dreams until the dawn When the sandman will be gone, And a new day then will greet you buckaroo. CHORUS |

09 Jun 04 - 12:48 PM (#1203686) Subject: RE: baby needs lullabyes From: black walnut HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Far in the wood you'll find a well / With water deep and clear / Whoever drinks by moonlight bright Will live a thousand years Will live a thousand years And all around the little well / Are seven lovely trees / They rock and sway and sing a song And whisper in the breeze And whisper in the breeze And through the seven little trees / The evening wind will blow / And down fall seven little dreams My baby just for you My baby just for you [Anon] ~Great-aunt b.w. |

11 Jun 04 - 05:32 AM (#1204955) Subject: RE: baby needs lullabyes (lullabies) From: Tracey Dragonsfriend That's great news to hear. And now I know that when you're not there to sing to them in person, they can hear you on CD, instead! How's this... Go to sleep my baby, Close those little eyes. Let your heart go swooping, Soar in endless skies. Go to sleep my baby, Go to sleep and dream. Safe and warm and cosy, In the moonlight's gleam. Cheers Tracey Dragonsfriend Scorch's Pyrography |
25 Jun 04 - 01:48 AM (#1213955) Subject: RE: baby needs lullabyes (lullabies) From: GUEST,Grandma Liz Incredibly, I'm on here looking for the 3rd verse to what may be the song you are searching for. My granddaughters LOVE this song...they are almost 3 and 5...so don't quit singing it too early. Hushabye, my little owlet, Many voices sing to thee. Hushabye the water whispers, Hush replies the tall pine tree. Too hoo (this is pronunciation, I don't know how to spell it) Too hoo Too hoo Weep no more, my little owlet, In thy lofty swaying nest. Weep no more, my little owlet, Close your eyes and take thy rest. Too hoo Too hoo Too hoo |
