Help! I'm driving home late one nite and turn on NPR (I think) and
get a cut with the lyric "I've got the 9 to 5 blues" and it goes on about how it sucks working and its no different than slavery, etc.
Great song - great lyrics- great picking . . .
Anyone know the title of the cut or the author? I can't find it.

There's somebody named Phil Newton who has a song called "Nine to Five Blues" - (click).
Is that it?

or, from the film,

I'm "working 9 to 5,
What a way to make a living
Working 9 to 5,
It's all taking, and no giving...."

Dolly Parton is the author of the second one.

Dolly's '9 to 5' is a country song - this was a blues cut . . .
Real bluesy! But thanks for trying to help. I'll pursue that lead for Phil Newton - Thanks for all your help.   the BigDog

Try a search at http://www.npr.org

Since you know the a approximate date and station call letters your search should be more fruitful than my, "nine to five" all inclusive search which yielded a water-glass busker in New Orleans.

Good luck hunting.....when you find them .... please post them back to the forum.
