Written By David Ackles, who I am not familiar with... (hint hint)... I wonder if anyone knows the history behind this song? Who was this "Andrew" anyway then? It's a tough one to play, and even tougher for me, to sing and play simultaniously... I'm getting it slowly... measurable in small incriments... ttr |

Ackles was a piano player, which may be why trying to accompany the song on guitar may be a challenge. I think that's why Carthy recorded it a capella. There were no notes on the Ackles recording, so I don't know if there's a true story behind it. Ackles himself became a college teacher after he recorded a couple more albums (on the Elektra and Columbia labels). He passed away a couple years ago I think. |

I didn't remember that album as being his second but I loved "The Road To Cairo" covered by Julie Driscoll and "Downriver".
