02 Dec 03 - 08:06 PM (#1064782) Subject: BS: Bush in Iraq : The rest of the Story From: Bobert Seems taht a reporter from the "Rocky Mountain News" has filled in some of the blanks about the secrecy of Bush's Thanksgiving trip to Baghdad... According to a reporter from the "News", reporters were sworn to secrecy, told that if they broke the story before Bush go the heck out, either the trip would be cancelled or ct short, depending on when the breach occured. Furthermore the reporters were told they could not speak with any servicemen in Iraq... Now, the Wes Ginny Slide Rule and I have been discussing this and have deducted that these reporters and the corporations for whom they work were acting as Bush's stooges. Was this *news*? Well, where is the *new* in just being dragged accross the ocean to take picture and ask no questions and tell no one until BUsh's handlers said it was okay? Yeah, this ain't news, it's olds... and it stinks... What has happened to journalism, anyway? Bobert |

Bush being a power point for them, they cater to his requirements in exchange for serious political tradeoffs. A |

03 Dec 03 - 02:07 PM (#1064908) Subject: RE: BS: Bush in Iraq : The rest of the Story From: GUEST Actually, Tim Russert asked the question of one of NBC (I think, or maybe it was Washington Post) reporters who was on the plane about whether the coverage should be considered reporting, or if they weren't just along to give political aid to Bush. It was a good question the reporter then proceeded to gloss over, ignore, and left unanswered. There has been a lot of buzz about this inside the beltway, it just isn't making it into the mainstream media. The mainstream media is too busy defending themselves for calling Senator Clinton unAmerican for going on a fact finding tour of Afghanistan and Iraq. |
