06 Dec 03 - 02:29 PM (#1066825) Subject: Origins: fight, fight the demon in the drink From: Mick O'Farrell Hi, Does anyone know the origin of this song which I've heard sung at a folk night, it seems to be some sort of temperance song, the first lines of the chorus are as follows : - "fight, fight, fight the demon in the drink fight, fight, fight you're teetering on the brink lucifer is lurking in the port and lime, claiming dipsomaniacs at opening time" I'd be interested to know if anyone is aware of a recorded version of it.
