13 Dec 03 - 11:21 PM (#1071857) Subject: RE: Review: Ryan Adams From: GUEST ...haven't heard it, but thanks for the heads up. If it's anything like Heartbreakers, I think I should like it. And to my loosely defined aural sensibilities, it is folk. |

14 Dec 03 - 04:25 AM (#1071935) Subject: RE: Review: Ryan Adams From: alanabit I don't think this is the same man as Bryan Adams, who did "Everything I Do" which featured at the end of the Robin Hood film. Most people around here are likely to see both of them as rock stars with only very tenuous links to the folk scene. I can't see either of them getting on the Grand Old Opry or doing the Nettlebed Folk Club. |

14 Dec 03 - 12:33 PM (#1072090) Subject: RE: Review: Ryan Adams From: Matt_R Ryan Adams is pretty cool. He's from Jacksonville, North Carolina, where I live right now. His stuff from his old Whiskeytown days was awesome...even wrote a song called "Jacksonville Skyline." He gets bonus points for coming up with one of my favorite lines ever: "I'd rather get a gun and blow my eyeball out." |

15 Dec 03 - 04:19 AM (#1072646) Subject: RE: Review: Ryan Adams From: GUEST,Ross Evidently his first two CD's are more loved than the latest Rumour is that Ryan wrote a more folk orientated set for this CD but it was rejected by the record company In protest he has knocked out a more rock orientated set of songs pinching riffs from T Rex & titles from Pink Floyd The title song - Rock & Roll is a remnant from the original album - quite haunting & the girl pleading repeatedly in the background is quite distressing (brilliant though it's simple) |
