18 Dec 03 - 05:46 PM (#1075688) Subject: RE: BS: Christmas trivia From: Ed. Lovely quiz, Helen I have to disagree with your: "It's no fun if you have to search for the answers" That's the only bit of quizzes that I enjoy! Each to their own I guess... |

18 Dec 03 - 07:42 PM (#1075768) Subject: RE: BS: Christmas trivia From: Helen Mary, it doesn't surprise me that you are the first to attempt this quiz. I said in the Secret Santa Goofy hints that I thought thinking was your forte. Try again on 6, 13, 22, 24,31, 32, 33, 34,35,36,37. Hints: 14 - both not either 31, 32, 33, 35 - earlier 37 wrote, and not sang Ed, I do agree. I love a good info-detective session, but it is fun to give the questions a go initially, just to test the brain. The fun thing about this quiz is, we hear so many Christmas carols, endlessly, but when someone asks a specific question the answers seem to be buried deep in the subconscious and are often hard to extract. 21 Dec 03 - 03:35 PM (#1077362) Subject: RE: BS: Christmas trivia From: Helen Walrus, 31 You are out by one year (according to my source of info, which could be wrong) So did you get a 97.3684210526316% score (i.e. 37/38) plus 2 bonus points because you knew all of the answers without looking them up? If so I am very impressed! If not, then I am impressed with your internet search skills. :-) Kendall, I know some of them are too easy, and deliberately so, because I run a trivia challenge game at my local club every week, and I don't like to demoralise the participants too much by asking really hard questions for every question. In fact, I have only seen the movie once all the way through, so I wouldn't have remembered it. 31 My source said plus one year, but you can't always trust the Internet as a source 32 Nope: try again 33, 34, 35, 36 try again - I'll let you look them up now if you want. Well done, MAG. I know you didn't look them up. Mary, I have to confess I don't get the joke of #19. Not being American doesn't help I suppose. Walrus, No 13 - that is clever - pedantic, but clever. And I like the joke in No. 4. Helen |

Yorkshire Yankee, Try again on: 6; 14 - yes and...; 20 - I stand corrected :-) , 31 - 5 years later; 32 - earlier - the story not the song; and you passed on a few at the end. General comments/hints: No. 6 - I'm looking for the place - which country does it now belong to? No. 14 - there are two things done to the wine to make it mulled wine No. 32 - It's not Gene Autry - when was the story created, not the song Nos 31, 33, 35 are probably much earlier than you might think No. 36 is the tough one - I had never heard of it either Helen |

It should read: 24 How many ghosts and/or spirits appear to Scrooge in Dickens's A Christmas Carol? Helen |

28 Dec 03 - 09:55 PM (#1081219) Subject: RE: BS: Christmas trivia From: Helen Nigel, No answer for: 2, 6, 26, 32, 33, 34, 35 Try again for 8,37 Totally correct for 14 (among the select few on that one! In fact only one other person got both parts of the answer, and that was Mary in Kentucky). You and Walrus are the only people so far who have the right answer for 36. And all right everyone, I give up! For question 7, the total number of gifts of a specific type is the sum of the gifts given over the whole twelve days. :-) But that wasn't the answer I was looking for - just the quote from the song will do. "On the sixth day of Christmas my true love sent to me blah bla-ah bla-ah". Helen |
