14 Sep 98 - 08:56 PM (#38137) Subject: Lyr Add: BARQUE OF LIFE (Carter family) From: Pete Peterson Well in Digital Tradition there is a verse of All the good times are past and gone that ends that way, but I don't think that's it. I suspect you are looking for the old Carter Family song "Barque of Life" which is NOT (let's modify that to "does not seem to be"-- I am not that sure of myself) in DT-- anyway that is My barque of life was drifting down life's troubled sea of time When first I saw your smiling face and youth was in its prime I'll ne'er forget you wheree'er I roam Wherever you may be If ever I have had a friend You've been that friend to me Misfortune nursed me as a child And loved me fondly too I would have had a broken heart Had it not been for you I now look back across the past Across life's troubled sea And smile to think through all I've seen You've been a friend to me Is this what you are looking for? |
15 Sep 98 - 03:07 AM (#38171) Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: NANCY SPAIN From: John In Brisbane Here's a roughie, with at least similar sentiment: NANCY SPAIN GDaylight peeping through the curtain Of the passing night time is your smile And the sun in the sky is like your laugh Come back to me my Nancy Linger for just a little while Since you left these shores I've known no peace nor joy
CHORUS G C DOn the day in Spring when snows start to melt And streams to flow With the birds I'll sing this song Then in the while I'll wander Down by bluebell stream where wild flowers grow And I'll hope that lovely Nancy will return CHORUS |
15 Sep 98 - 03:48 AM (#38177) Subject: RE: Where ever I may wander. Help please. From: Joe Offer Ach, John, you're making me work too hard. Nobody living has yet been able to accurately put chords above lyrics at Mudcat. They turn out a jumble. You also can't use tabs at the beginning of a line, although you can indent a paragraph with the

command or center lyrics with the

command. The most important thing to do when posting lyrics is to put a line break
at the end or beginning of each line, so the lines of the song are separated. Remember:
Thanks. -Joe Offer- |
15 Sep 98 - 01:54 PM (#38207) Subject: RE: Where ever I may wander. Help please. From: The Shambles Thank you Pete that was the one, and thank you too John it's a good one as well. Has anyone else a version or different verses? Rog. |
15 Sep 98 - 07:43 PM (#38238) Subject: RE: Where ever I may wander. Help please. From: John in Brisbane Joe, I stand admonished! I copied the lyrics straight from the Christy Moore site - I gather that there were no imbedded html commands.
BTW, I would have sworn that Nancy Spain was in the DT,
Getting the chords right would seem to be a challenge. I Thanks Joe.

15 Sep 98 - 08:23 PM (#38242) Subject: RE: Where ever I may wander. Help please. From: Pete Peterson Dear Shambles, Glad to hear that that was the one. The tune is roughly Bury Me Beneath the Willow (when the Carter Family got a good tune they used it more than once!) but has that chorus-- do you remember the tune? If All Else Fails email me privately (lutrine@itw.com) and leave your phone # and I will sing it to you. Can't remember a commercial recording-- sorry |
16 Sep 98 - 05:14 AM (#38293) Subject: RE: Where ever I may wander. Help please. From: Joe Offer John, if you want to copy lyrics from another site and paste them here, the best way is to right-click on the lyrics at the other site and choose "view source" from the menu that pops up. You can then copy the lyrics and all the fancy formatting, and then paste them in here at Mudcat - I did that on the "Codeine" thread a few days ago, but then edited out the special formatting when somebody else came up with better lyrics. If you just highlight and copy lyrics from another site, the formatting doesn't come along. Of course, you have to be a bit careful what you copy. Some of that fancy formatting can make Mudcat go haywire. The
(preformatted text) command seems to do nasty things here. Mistakes can be fixed, so don't worry. -Joe Offer- |
