BS: Christmas Day in Australia

Well the thread already here about opening our pressies on Christmas Day doesn't seem to work. So here's another. I'm sitting here wearing a pair of reindeer antlers. My true-love is still asleep. IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY already.
                      MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.
Just opened my Secret Santa present. I'm so excited! Santa Snuffy Thank you Thank you. Two CDs of early American music. Wonderful old photos on the front and back. I just love this beautiful old music. I'm so excited. We'll play them when my True-love wakes up and we'll cry together, even over the happy songs probably.
Our three just released baby magpies are caroling at the window. Over by the old school house twenty or so big Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos are tearing up the Banksias to get at the seeds and shrieking. It's Christmas in Australia.
                        MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
                                             Peace from JOY

And here's Rolf with a quick chorus:

"Six white boomers,
Snow white boomers
Pulling Santa Claus through the blazing sun
Six white boomers,
Snow white boomers
On the Australia run"

I'm sure there were verses but I can't remember them or the tune for the verse

G'Day & Merry Christmas

Nigel (In Old South Wales)

Mr Chongo wishes to send his special Christmas greetings to all the kangaroos in Oz. He really goes for kangaroos in a big way. Oh, and the koalas and wallabies too. And the platypusses.

Christmas in Australia sounds great to me.

Can't quite remember the chorus of the old Roaring Jelly classic - Christmas in Australia. Perhaps someone can fill in the gaps.

Christmas in Australia
Is Christmas in Paradise
Christmas in Australia
Is basically "Bloody Nice"
???????
On your Christmas Goose
And if you ain't got a Christmas Suntan
You're a pommie and you ain't no use.

We've got about two hours to go.
Merry Christmas from England.
Quack!
Geoff and the rest of the Ducks.

Little Hawk I'll give the Kangaroos and Wallabies and Koalas and Platypuses your greetings. Also the Emus you'd like them too, and the Brolgas.
Ah! Old South Wales. Thanks Nigel. We are quite a good way South of New South Wales. Lucky they didn't choose to call our place South New South Wales. Or even South of South New South Wales. The drunken party (at least four there were - a crowd out here!)at the local pub sang us Rolf's song as we passed by on our carol singing last night. We sang them a song too.   Joy

I seem to remember from Sunday School, and from "Godspell", that that's the way of Heaven isn't it? God wants the sheep but not the goats? We sure have a lot of sheep around us out here. Must be in Heaven!

We've caught up with all you Aussies because it's now Christmas day in UK.
Here in Isle of Skye, our hopes of a white Christmas were dashed as the wee bit of snow that was lying on the ground has melted away with a spell of mils weather.
I saw on the tellie that it was around 32C in Melbourne and Sydney today.
Merry Christmas to you all - even the marinos

Andy

Cheery Mistmas from sunny Sydney - it's already 12.30pm, I have a chook cooking in the oven, our sons are both here for Christmas, my husband will be home soon from visiting his elderly mother and we can finish exchanging presents! The boys (in their 20's) are showing great restraint in not poking their gifts.
And at lunch we will open the fizzy wine - a nice NZ fizz - and I will toast you all on Mudcat.
Cheers

today i went with friends and family to Bronte Beach (sydney). we spread out a tarp under some big trees, on the slope of the green park that leads down to the beach. the breeze from the ocean was cool, the sand was white, the sky was clear blue and scorching hot, and the water was beautiful (despite the rip!)
we arrived at 10.30 and left at 5.00, after a quiet day of eating, talking, drinking, swimming, walking and recovering.
now the cicadas are chirping, the sun has gone down, and the stars are shining!

happy christmas!

freda

We just walked around looking at the stars and the moon's back - just a sliver but back. Goodnight Christmas Day for another year. Merry Christmas to all of you just starting it. Joy

Well it's now about 3am down under, and I'm sure all the Oz Cats are snoring lightly. I phoned my friend in Melbourne this morning, [about 8pm Oz time] and he was so down. He is divorced and lives alone in Camberley, his kid are in the US, and he has no significant other. It's hard being so far away from friends when they're down, you can't give them a hug or buy them a drink. You can't even tell them one of your rotten jokes and make them groan. However we had a lovely time chez nous, and I hope you all. had, or are having a super Christmas.
Joy to the world.......John

Will do Art Thank you. We had a lovely day listening to old recordings - thanks to my Secret Santa.
We also played your songs and Animaterra's lovely group.

John (formerly Giok) Would your friend join Mudcat? I'm sure you've already thought of that. Christmas is so sad for so many people. I count my blessings every day. Well I try, but there are so many my mind wanders off. Joy
