I am aware of convergent evolution on different continents but this is a good example of what I would call convergent cultural evolution. Thomas never experienced the same cultural influences that Rodgers did that would help mold his musical style. He nontheless expressed and developed, mostly independently, a very similar style in an unlikely area (Shetland) distinctly different from the western U.S. Ron |
