Looks like this Friday's King Harry club meeting (Jeremy Taylor 16th Jan) will now be at the pub next to the Comfort Hotel. (White Bear? White Hart? White Elephant?) Breezy will no doubt give details when he feels like it. Anyone told Jeremy? |
12 Jan 04 - 04:42 AM (#1090931) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM 's only Monday, anything could happen before Friday, and no doubt everything will. No loss, you could have died of thirst in the KH last Friday trying to find the one bar person actually willing to serve customers. SM |
12 Jan 04 - 04:47 AM (#1090935) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: Singing Referee Definitely the WHITE HART for Jeremy Taylor on Friday, according to Breezy last night. As you say Moses, next to the Comfort. Me thinks Breezy's not around until late Tuesday or Wednesday. Didn't we agree on Friday to knock the Tuesday session on the head this week? Last night Breezy still sounded unsure as to whether anyone would show or not. I'll definitely not be there, got to visit Mum & Dad in hospital in Coventry. May call in at Ampthill for Cloud Street if back in time, as it's on the way home. |
12 Jan 04 - 05:18 AM (#1090943) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: Hamish I'm 97.3% sure Breezy said Tuesday's sesh is off this week. He can't be sure of his whereabouts. That's physically (as well as the usual mental aspect). |

13 Jan 04 - 12:40 PM (#1091926) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,SM at work Hi Guru Said, I hope you're not suggesting anything untoward here. It's all definitely running to plan. It's just that some of us have been a bit lax in keeping up with which plan we should be running to. Anyway, I think maybe the term we should be applying to the situation is "showing an enviable ability to adapt to changing circumstances". Well either you've got it or you ain't. Seems we've got it in lorry loads in St Albans. You should put this fluidity down to unrivalled success and the demand to see Jeremy Taylor. Not to mention putting a safe distance between the event and any manic bell ringing that might break out over at St S's on the night. I'm confident we'll all be wherever it is we should be on Friday evening. One way or another, I think, perhaps. Most probably. Yes indeed. SM |
13 Jan 04 - 01:36 PM (#1091984) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: breezy absolutely, well said S M Friday 16th Jan at The 'Haunted' White Hart Hotel, Holywell Hill, St Albans for Jeremy Taylor anticipated attendance stands at 42 all ticket holders have been notified. Thank goodness for free air time yes it really is. |
14 Jan 04 - 05:43 AM (#1092545) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM (pretending to work) Breezy, Have you made any particular arrangements for Friday with this 'haunting' you mention? I take it you have checked that(s)he likes singing, and Jeremy T. in particular? I think you'd better include its favourite song in the evening just to be on the safe side. The last occasion I was with a group of people who upset a lingering presence (not in 'The Hart' that time) he started chucking glasses off the bar shelves....dozens of them. Some in the group who knew the deceased, both in life and beyond, immediately started effing and blinding at him to stop. Eventually the glasses did, although begrudgingly. However, the cussing and name calling continued unabated for a fair bit of time afterwards I can tell you! I mention this because this sort of thing can put a bit of a dampner on the evening if you're not used to it.... SM |

14 Jan 04 - 06:26 AM (#1092555) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM So you've had a word and everything is in hand then? Could make the bell ringers look an attractive proposition if it turned for the worse! SM |

16 Jan 04 - 05:01 AM (#1093945) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM Really? The Comfort!!?? Are we now back at the Comfort Hotel? Is the King H. a venue of the past? Wow! That must be plan number 347/b/89/t/CH. coming into operation. That must be a Reverse Diagonal on the pentatonic. SM |
16 Jan 04 - 07:05 AM (#1094001) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: Hamish Reverse diagonals aren't allowed under King Harry Rules. |
16 Jan 04 - 07:59 AM (#1094047) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM Hamish are you sure about that? How else do we end up singing in the British Legion on a Saturday, unless we invoke the French Row opt out. SM |
16 Jan 04 - 09:11 AM (#1094088) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: Moses Listen up guys! It is really very simple. Geography is all. Counter-clockwise starting on 16th at the White Hart gets us to the Legion on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th followed (counter-clockwise) by the King Harry on 23rd and, as Breezy is in retrograde, back (clockwise) to the Legion on 25th. Then (counter-clockwise again)on to the King Harry for song-swap on Tuesday 27th and finally (counter-clockwise again)to the good old Comfort on 30th. Ever-decreasing circles?? |
16 Jan 04 - 10:28 AM (#1094146) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM Moses, Now you put it like that, I can't understand how I didn't see it immediately....Must have overlooked the "Breezy in retrograde". Now does that co-incide with alternate full moons, or does it only occur when Mercury enters Uranus? I was wondering if we could invoke the "Pygmy in the Elephant Grass" variation if any of us finally loose the plot towards the middle of February? SM |
16 Jan 04 - 11:05 AM (#1094182) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: breezy dont want any mercury thank you, especially there!! Tonight 38 tickets sold. Come early I may need help with furniture moving. |
16 Jan 04 - 11:09 AM (#1094186) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: George Papavgeris Plot? Plot? There is a plot? Nobody told me! |
16 Jan 04 - 11:11 AM (#1094188) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: Moses SM In the middle of February I shall, God willing, be 12,000 miles away and as far from Mercury as possible. Moses |
16 Jan 04 - 12:29 PM (#1094241) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: GUEST,The SM Moses, only 12,000 miles? I really don't think that is going to be far enough. Can't you get any further, just to be on the safe side. Oh....and while you're there I'd steer well clear of any buskers wearing baseball caps. You just never know. El Greko, As you have the job of keeping the website up to date it is far better for everyone if you are kept in the dark. After all a stopped clock is right twice a day. Anything else and you'd probably end up in rehab. SM |

17 Jan 04 - 12:28 PM (#1094901) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: The Stage Manager Guru, You're forgetting all the fun! Last night Breezy hijacked a hotel restaurant and then commandeered every seat from the adjacent bars that wasn't actually bolted to the floor. Most of the 'regulars' and Friday night punters had to drink standing up in 'The Hart' last night, Strangely, they didn't seem to notice. Despite a slightly late start due to a couple of particularly obstinate diners who refused to acknowledge the frenzy of furniture shifting going on around them, Jeremy Taylor gave a great performance to a packed and appreciative audience. To finish off a perfect evening, Breezy announced that it was definitely undecided where we were off to next week, but tantalisingly gave us a list of possible venues. The suspense is building already. Bet you're missing it all really. I can't believe it's actually happening. SM |

19 Jan 04 - 08:41 AM (#1096171) Subject: RE: New year in St Albans From: Moses S R Well sung! (Legion last night) Appropriate to have a ref "kick-off" at a new club (I can't believe it was planning on Breezy's part) Good to hear so many talented performers - (Did himself pay his 50p fine for running over time??). Performers get there early next week to book the best spot. Musically, anything goes (remembering it is a family show!!). Plenty of parking and (fairly) cheap beer and there is a very good chance this club will continue to meet where it's supposed to, probably, well .....possibly. |
