Venues in Naples, Italy

I may be slumming it in Napoli for a few months. Any venues, particularly the sing-along variety, worth checking out?

Cheers,

Brian

You must be joking! Do you speak Italian (not that's it's a lot of use in trying to understand Napulitano, the local dialect)? There are some restaurants with Canzoni Napolitani, and along the coast there are a few music pubs/clubs, but of course all in Italian/Napulitano, mostly pretty raucous, but you'd need transport to get there. There are a couple of youth centres where students hang out that have live music, usually pop/rock. If you'd like further info email me at dconlan@iol.ie

Nothing musical, but a sound sanitary advice: Go to the church of S. Francesco di Paola (not Assisi!), the patron of the travellers, and light a candle before his altar. I'm a fierce Lutheran, but I did it when passing through to North Africa, and his blessing kept me and my comrades safe for more than two months until we returned. If you can get hold of one of his medals, wear it during travel.
