Sounds pretty racist for me. I thought we had to say "chalkboard" now.

Yeah, they shouldda thought of that when they registered the name for their system. :~) Unless of course the company is owned by people of color, who might have been making a point.   Hard to pinpoint just where the racism is, these days. :~)

'Blackboard' courseware used at a lot of colleges & universities. It helps faculty who want to organize their courses & interact with their students using the Web. It's used where I work & there are some faculty who use it to post syllabi, reading lists, reserve readings, etc. There is some discussion group type functionality that has been used to create some campus wide groups.

I got an early overview of it. I don't work with classes so I don't use it and have forgotten most of what I know. I think the public service librarians will add materials when they do Library Instruction.

My understanding is that it was about the best system available when we were implementing a system. There was another one earlier & everyone seems to like it much better with some caveats. I think our library system manager said that they can't get at the underlying database & this has created some management issues.

Thanks. If you know anyone who uses the online-meetings function a lot, I'd be pleased to correspond; you have my email address.
