The refrain went "I wouldn't live in New York City if you give me the whole dang town." It was sort of a cowboy blues thing as I recall it. Anybody recognize it? |

From: Gene I WOULDN'T LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY (If they gave me the whole dang town) As recorded by: Buck Owens and his buckaroos Writer: Buck Owens It ain't nothin' but a concrete jungle With people packed like sardines Where ev'rbody's tryin' To live beyond their means Where all the natives hurry And scurry to and fro But like fleas on a puppy dog They got no place to go. CHORUS I Wouldn't Live In New York City If they gave me the whole dang town Talk about a bummer, it's the biggest one around Sodom and Gomorrah was tame to what I found I Wouldn't Live In New York City If they gave me the whole dang town. Well, I aint seen the sunshine Since they day that I arrived 'Cause brother I've been busy A-tryin' to survive Nobody's knows you been here Til you're six feet underground And you become a statistic If they remember to write you down.
