19 Jan 04 - 04:52 PM (#1096537) Subject: RE: Oxford, uk: Clubs etc... From: GUEST,squeezy Hi Lizabee There's quite a lot going on in the Oxford area. The folk club runs on fridays from about 8.30 weekly (get there earlier on guest nights)Click here for details There's plenty of sessions in the area too - in Oxford itself there's the big one in The Half Moon, St Clements every sunday (mainly irish but depends who's there, can be quite english). A new one has sprung up at the Chester Arms off Iffley Rd (every 2nd Tuesday - French dance music). The others I know are in Wallingford and Steventon but I can't remember where. If I find the details I'll post them here. |

If you're going west from Datchet, or east from Oxford, you might try Marlow Bottom (Wednesday) - what used to be the Wycombe club, run by Karen Hemmingham and Paul Hodgon. Les Sullivan and I are booked for 7 April........ Readifolk on Sumdays - Caversham. Kitty (who got home from work too late to get to Herga). |
19 Jan 04 - 05:23 PM (#1096554) Subject: RE: Oxford, uk: Clubs etc... From: Herga Kitty The local folk mag is Shire Folk. I think Bob and Claire Lloyd are running a festival in Oxford this spring. You can probably get info in the Music Room, from Bill McKinnon and Ian Giles..... (but Sueezy's the expert, really). Kitty |

From: Liz the Squeak Try somewhere near Haddenham, (near Towersey, near Thame) they have regular ceilidhs, a mainline train station and some bloody good pubs. There are also about 3 morris teams in the area (Haddenham, Owlswick and Towersey) so they will know where the best music is to be found. LTS |
