From: AllisonA(Animaterra) One of the priveleges of living in New Hampshire is being wooed by the candidates as the first-in-the-nation primary looms. I've just come home from dinner with Elizabeth Edwards (wife of John). I've been the most undecided liberal in NH, but I'm beginning to think I may have made my choice. I'm also a "media hermit" so I'm not sure what the concerns and issues are. What do Mudcatters think? Allison |

I have leaned towards Dean for quite a while now, but am very impressed by Edwards and his committment to running a positive campaign. The main concern I have, though, is if that will work this time. I am not sure we have the luxury of trying to take the high ground against what we all know will be the down and dirty tactics of the shrubites. The issues I am most concerned about are health insurance, employment stability and wages, and resolving our involvement in Iraq. I;d love to hear about your impressions of Ms. Edwards and her husband's take on things. kat |

He had Edwards on and I can see why James Carville says he is even better at working a room than Clinton. Very easy and comfortable when being spontaneous, good looks, has a lot of "right answers," and I'm sure the Bush folks fear more from him than anyone else as far as a debate would go. Richard Belzer, after hearing Carville's description said Edwards was "Clinton without the blowjobs." Cracked me up!! I like Edwards over Dean....I really think he is more electable. From: AllisonA(Animaterra) I'm very impressed with what Mrs. Edwards had to say about the ABC act in NC, which is (she claims) the inspiration for No Child Left Behind (except the ABC has funding behind it!). She and her husband also put their money where their mouth is and opened a pilot Learning Center across from a city high school in Raleigh. Talking with their daughter and Ms. Close, it appears that childhood issues are a very high priority with them. Mrs. Edwards had to hurry off to another dinner, so I didn't get to talk further with her. But I believe Edwards is best known for his health care stand. Here is the blicky that will take you to the campaign home page. You can look at his stand on issues there. I'm more and more convinced that this is the guy Bush should fear the most. I don't know if he'll make it in NH (I wish I'd had this experience 2 weeks before the primary instead of 2 days!) but I have my fingers crossed. Allison |
