Irish session in Ludlow has moved from the Charlton Arms to the Unicorn in Lower Corve Street. Nice welcome for the first session the other friday. It is held 3rd friday of the month. Mixed singing and music... with some non irish later on... ie the nice Mr Pat Simons doing rock n roll! There was a lady base guitar player at the session. The Forresters Arms, Broseley has a folk session in the Back wooden hall every tuesday eve... bring ya thermal long jons! But good sing around and music. Different styles, all accoustic. Boat Irish music session still going strong every Thursday, 8pm onwards. Also practice session at Birchmeadow Centre Broseley every sunday morning. 10-12.30. Beginners very welcome on any instrument.... so long as its traditional Irish... what ever that is! Finally. Music sessions at Burton Borough School, Newport Shrops every Saturday morning until Easter hols. Selection of sessions to choose from, orchestra, recorders, guitar, junior percussion group and Folk group ( which I run). The folk group is all youngsters at the min, but adults are welcome. We have a range of instruments and learn Irish tunes, some modern folk songs, some traditional. A group of the girls and I went busking at a local supermarket before christmas and raised quite a bit of money. Id been threatening to busk at christmas for years, bit my family never took me seriously! slan leat fliss |
