Tech: Online Acoustic Folk, Radio or Other

OK, now that I have access to a computer that can do it, where do I go and how do I do it? I tried looking for threads about this, but didn't find the right stuff, so elves may feel free to add blickies or move this thread to the relevant superthread, or whatever. Meanwhile, I was kinda miffed that the likeliest place, Acoustic Cafe, was one a site called Boomer.com, as I am too young to be a boomer... and the SECOND song I heard was something I'd played earlier that day! Aaaargh! Where else can I go for the music of the 60's, the more mouvementé stuff like the old Peter, Paul and Mary, Dylan, you know, classical stuff. The Weavers would be nice too. The discussion of which sites are better than others and why, to just listen rather than download, would be optimal. Thanks!

Well, I'll have to dig for the 60s folks, but http://www.wunc.org is a station the has its own folk show, Back Porch Musicon friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights EDT.

Also, http://www.kalw.org has folk music on Satufdays from 3 pm PDT on. That's all I can think of off the top of my head for now.

Good luck; cheers,
Teresa

Sorry...hit too soon.

WFUV
has a program every Sunday morning called "Woody's Children" that focuses on older folk...and they have a lot of shows archived.

The Vinyl Preservation Project has entire LPs from the 50s, 60s and 70s on line.

Click on the Radio section just below the title of this page. Two sites are referenced there. Check any addition of Sing Out magazine for their radio partners section. That will get you started.

Try "BCB Radio Bradford" and listen in to the "Folk Us" and "Mixed Bag" programmes.

Try "BBC Radio Derby" and listen to the "Folk Waves" programme.

Searches from google will get you there.

All the best
