Well here's a good excuse to not be getting the rest of the decorations down from Christmas - for one, it's too dim to see properly and for two I'm not allowed to be climbing ladders alone. So they stay up another year!

He saw it. I figured he would. On the bright side, Phil is as cute and cuddly as ever.

It's not his shadow he's afraid of. It's that d*mn Mayor! If they got rid of the Mayor, maybe spring would come a little earlier.

Why do they have to pull the poor little bugger out like that? I hope it crapped down his arm.

The least you could do for Phil would be to learn how to spell Punxsutawney.

Since today is Groundhog Day, I decided we should have ground hog for dinner, so I made some pork Italian sausage and added it to pasta. It was good.

Hey - C'mon. Lets show some respect for a great tradition.

Can you think of a better reason for every college kid in western Pennsylvania to attend their annual drunken orgy than Groundhog (hic) Day?

In Pennsylvania some things are sacred, and I can talk about them now because I don't live there anymore!

The groundhog at the Staten Island Zoo did not see his shadow. Could it be that Pennsy will sit in gloom all by itself for the next six weeks?

I am the famous albino groundhog of Western Ontario, Canada, and I saw MY shadow too. Look it up on Google. That guy in Staten Island is a lush. You can't depend on anything he says. He wouldn't see his shadow if it walked up and smacked him on the schnozz!

I am Jimmy, the official Groundhog of Sun Praire, Wisconsin, Groundhog capital of the WORLD! And I say there is going to be an early Spring. Look it up on Google. Wiarton Willie and Punxsutawney Phil are all wet! No shadow did I see. Early Spring for sure! Get out your sunscreen, folks!

Good, someone spelled Punxatawny right.

February 2 is also the birthday of Mr. Alexandeer James Smith, born, I am happy to say, 02/02/02. As his father said, he did not see his shadow, and there was not six more weeks of labor.

Round these here parts, Phil just might see a 22-250 and not have a choice.

Yeah... I know.

I'm teaching a class on mtn dulcimer tonight, and I thought it would be cute to try playing "I got you babe" as featured in the movie "Ground Hog Day." I actually listened to Sonny and Cher do it on YouTube.

However, in my heart I know I couldn't stand to master it. It could easily be entered in the contest to name The Song which Is Closest to Being Sung on Only One Note.

I watched the video and couldn't figure out which one of them was singing. And that instrument that goes "nweh nweh- nweh nweh -nweh nweh". What IS it?
