04 Feb 04 - 10:49 AM (#1109139) Subject: Cara's Website From: Oaklet Although it needs a bit of work to finish it, our website is sufficiently advanced to play clips from tracks of the two albums, and to show pictures of me, Mike and John. It'll soon have Paypal and another e-commerce facility so that you can purchase albums and Cara-branded umbrellas on-line. The pages under construction will be finished soon. http://www.carasmusic.com I hope that you particularly enjoy staring in wonder, at the photos of me but remember it was the bloody lens on the camera that made me look so terribly fat. |

05 Feb 04 - 04:56 AM (#1109792) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: GUEST,Skipjack K8 This is a bigger whitewash than Hutton, allegedly. Body doubles have been used, of questionable body mass index, with heads pasted on from mail order catalogues, in front of genuine images of known Cara haunts. A very cunning plan to present in soft focus this jagged-edged trinity. The one that poses as Mike Ryan is indeed lovely. I also believe the joists (jiestses in the local argot)in the manager/agent's loft are about to give way under the merchandise stock that these 'coathangers' are sporting, and it is a little known secret that a large portion of the local population could also be sartorially excellent by simply approaching any Barrow branch of Gamblemusic, bearing brown paper money. But they won't look as good as these lovely boys. I think the site is lovely. |
06 Feb 04 - 04:15 AM (#1110548) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: GUEST,Mr It is now possible to purchase CDs on this website. Sadly, the Oakley plan to sell umbrellas, souvenir toothpicks, Cara jewellery, scent, assorted nuts and hang-glider accoutrements has had to go on the back burner as our venture capitalists tell us they have re-engineered their processes to concentrate on Ker-Plunk spares. |
08 Mar 04 - 11:23 AM (#1131459) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: GUEST,MR The website has now received 10,000 + hits. What does this mean? I thought I'd ask as many of you seem to cheer numbers, e.g. "200 - Hurray". |

08 Mar 04 - 12:35 PM (#1131538) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: KJ Nice site, especially 'The Band' link, 'come & see the boys'indeed!!! Sounds a bit pornographic to me. If any folk club/festival organisers bother perusing these threads then ignore the boys bit & book 'em 'cos they're good! |
08 Mar 04 - 02:10 PM (#1131620) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: Oaklet Eric and KJ, your comments are highly appreciated. You have just reminded me to get Mr Techno to edit some of the script on the links. By the way, we noticed that we have developed a huge cyber-following in Equador. I suppose our target audiences from around here will be equally obsessing about Bolivian artists. I just guess that's the interweb for you. I have secured vouchers giving £57 off Skip's workshops for all three of you in return for such kindness. Shit - I've got my foot stuck. Bugger. |
08 Mar 04 - 02:16 PM (#1131623) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: KJ I'm not suprised that you have garnered a huge following in Equador, the Equadorians are highly renowned for the quality of their musical taste. Such a shame the English don't follow their example. Thankyou for the voucher off Skip's workshops, will have to remortgage the house to find the rest. |

18 Mar 04 - 04:27 AM (#1139780) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: Fibula Mattock I'm deeply saddened by the inability to purchase Cara-branded whelks from the website. I suppose a CD will just have to suffice. But before I expose my credit card to all the nasty things that lurk on the Internet, I must ask - will these CDs be on sale at the Eurogathering? That'd save on postage, freeing my pennies for workshop downpayment and a ticket as far as Doncaster. |
18 Mar 04 - 04:44 AM (#1139786) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: Rasener Fibula Mattock If you come to the Market Rasen Folk Club on Friday 26th March CARA will be playing along with Stitherum, Karen and Colin Thompson, Liam Robinson, Strollin' Johnny, Mick Pearce, Diathi and Bloke In The Corner to mention just a few. You would be able to buy them there. :-) |
18 Mar 04 - 05:01 AM (#1139795) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: Oaklet Fibulamatic, Don't worry about the nasty things that lurk on the internet, said one of the nastiest things that ever lurked on the internet... We'll be flogging genuine copies from the back of the Hiace. Just sidle up to me during the first Barrow Upon Humber International Festival of Music and Shellfish and quote your handy fifty digit number. Villain, since reading that kind plug, my vowels have flattened, my sentences now go up questioningly at the end and I am starting to understand every word spoken by KJ. Thanks, mayit. |

11 Dec 04 - 10:35 AM (#1353953) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: Oaklet We've managed to shoehorn details of the new album Long Forgottem on the site, with 4 clips. The first (The Faerie Queen) is a whopping 4 Mb, but at least we've stuck one track on in its entirety. We'll get the Paypal facility for the new album fixed up in the next few days. I hope that you enjoy the curtains on the homepage half as much as Fibulamatic - she was visibly moved. |

31 Dec 04 - 07:50 PM (#1368534) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: Alaska Mike I just received my copy of Cara's "Long Forgotten" CD. It took a bit longer than expected because the mail truck actually got stopped for a few days because of an avalanche on the main highway into town. All I can say is WOW!!! The arrangements and musicianship on this CD are fabulous. Its got a great mix of traditional and original tunes and songs, some light hearted and cheery and others quite mornful and sad. There are even a few excellent vocals from Mike Ryan, the piper/whistle player/mandolin/guitarist. This is truly a gifted and talented group of performers. I urge everyone to pick up a copy of this CD. Thanks for the great music guys. Mike |

31 Dec 04 - 08:08 PM (#1368552) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: MudGuard Hello Cara ;-) Could you please do me a favour? Could you PLEASE trust one of those North-English persons that go to Loughstock III at Portaferry (Fibula "The Doctoresse" Mattock, Greg "The Skipjack", ...) and give him one CD "Long Forgotten" to bring it to Portaferry? In that lovely place, I would then exchange that CD for the appropriate amount of Pounds Sterling which the trusted person then should bring to 'ull and Cara. Please hurry with your decision - it is only 34 days till Loughstock III This would save me the hassle of an international money transfer and the horrendously high banking fees for such transfers. 04 Jan 05 - 08:23 PM (#1371568) Subject: RE: Cara's Website From: GUEST,Anon It's just the Cara band members, family and friends trying to 'plug' the band again. They've got another thread begging festival organisers to book them but have been unable to name any festival organisers who have done so. If every band followed Cara's lead then mudcat would be clogged-up with useless self-congratulatory drivel. |
