BS: Does anyone here watch WorldLink TV?

We got hooked up to a satellite TV service a couple of months ago (DirectTV), and I found this network in the basic service selection. I'm very impressed with it. In my opinion, PBS only pays lip service to doing what this network actually does.

They showed a really great documentary recently about a guy who put internet terminals in holes in the outside walls of buildings in different parts of India, and filmed people's reactions to them and how they used them. It's called "Hole in the Wall".

Anyone else here watch this network?

I tune in almost daily for the world music videos aired at noon here.I love the diversity of music I find on that channel. Also news from around the world. It's actually one of the only stations I watch regularly.
Starting the 14th they are airing " The Blues According to Lightnin'" A doc. on Lightnin' Hopkins, on world music.

I've mentioned Link TV (they recently dropped the "World") here before. Their political coverage is much more important than their music programs. There's an infrequent discussion series hosted by Peter Coyote called "The Active Opposition" that counteracts the talk shows on CNN, Fox etc. beautifully.

The channel also airs lots of foreign documentaries. Previous posts are here and here.

Link TV can be found on DirecTV's channel 375 and Dish Network's channel 9410.

Cheers,
Michael

But Michael, the music does mean alot. It also bring people together with their cultures and views on the world. You just have to know how to speak Swahili!
I guess I over-stated when I said I watch regular. Regular when I have the time. That is a bummer to hear they aren't doing world music but next week they are doing Lightin. And I just saw on Carols link they talk about it.

I think they're both important in their own ways. The talking informs the mind, and that's really important. And music helps us to understand other people in non-verbal kinds of ways.

What I was trying to say was that music is nice, but you can get it from a variety of sources, while in-depth political coverage of a progressive slant is hard to come by on American TV.

Cheers,
Michael

yes i think this is the best thing on tv....the main reason i keep the Direct t.v. account...wish i could give the $ directly to the LINK folks and not have to pay the DTV bill! I'd gladly send the payment directly to the network formerly known as world link...a good cause!
then you have to actually pay extra to get PBS....and i thought it was supposed to be avaiable the the "PUBLIC" ...
