Is bollocks your favourite word perchance then eric? I bet Mr Whicker never uses such language, but then he is a fine upstanding Pagan Mason.

I found that a 9" x 3" domestic louvered plastic gas vent from Whickes just fitted in the floor behind the fridge diagonally across the rear of the caravan. ...

I give up. Who's Whicker?

To me, "whicker" is a gentle noise that a horse makes.

Have you ever read anything by the man called "The Horse Whisperer?" Most interesting. He wrote that wild horses are totally silent - afraid of predation. It's domesticated horses that neigh, whinny, and whicker, because they have less fear.

Of course, when they do whicker, they always have nice coats on.

Alan Whicker is a UK TV Journalist and Presenter, who is currently in a series of travel company adverts, where he keeps turning up strange places eg the draw of an office desk, a sushi restaurant conveyor, and a jacuzzi - each time dressed in a smart suit.

Thanks. It's so important to be in the know about these things. That way I can seem knowledgeable (sp) without actually having to watch any TV.

But it's the time-warped voice and accent...

Did he, like Fyfe Robertson, achieve celebrity on the BBC Tonight programme?

So, Does Alan Whickers' horse whicker as they ride off to the hounds? I bet he's in the pink when they do, savvy dresser as he seems to be.

Wild horses silent? Horse hockey! Bit of thread creep here. There is nothing quite like the low growling and screaming wild stallions do when fending off a bachelor stallion. And the soft low reassuring calls he gives his mares after the successful defense of his herd. The just beaten off bachelor has his call as well, 'I'll be back!' Then there are the low calls given from the bell mare to the others when it is time to move out and follow her. Most moving of all are the calls given by mares to their foals. Gentle nickers to reassure the young one that mom is near, the nose blows to recognize each other before the young one tucks in, and the frantic scream she gives when her foal dies or falls prey to a cougar or she is seperated from it and cannot find it. Oh I forgot the cute whinnies of foals at play. And the short, powerful nose blow the stallion gives when a predator is around.

I worked at Pier 1 Imports for a while. They sell baskets, and wicker furniture, and wicker just about everything else. I always thought their motto should be, "No Rest For The Wicker". (SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!)
