BS: Goodbye to Sex and The City

I for one am going to miss this groundbreaking program. I sound like an Ad man for HBO. But truthfully, it was the freshest adult program about the interplay between people looking for love that has ever been done for cable television. There was a lot of truth to the stuff they covered; giving away secrets that women share with women while men no doubt wondered if it was contrivance or whatever. But the show laid bare otherwise taboo subjects which made me and my friends open up to each other; shake our heads, sometimes and laugh hysterically. Style never looked so good. And these gals were very likeable characters. New York City gets an award for a great supporting performance, always exciting.

Won't you add your comments, talk about your favorite story lines or reminisce.

Goodbye to the female Fab Four!

Ellen,
I'm sorry for your loss. I know what you mean when you have a show that you really love and the network decides to cut you off.
I have never seen Sex/City but when they cut off Northern Exposure I felt defiled and humiliated not to mention rejected and at a loss! Ha! Those bastards. Who do they think they are getting people so involved and worked up and then they throw the final funeral when we know life has just really started! Damn those big network executives eh?

Typical isn't it. Just as I get to like a programme, they take it off.

I felt the same way about Due South.... life isn't the same without that wolf....

Hey Liz - my sister is head of Wardrobe in a Montreal theatre and (wait for it) she's taken Fraser's inside leg measurement!

I'm not saying goodbye to sex in the city - or sex in the country or indeed sex where ever I may be.

Can anyone explain why these style victims seem to walk unmolested in NY in the small hours wearing what looks like underwear & vestigial Manolos but put on track suits and bedsocks when going to bed in their central heated apartments?
...and what happened to Sarah Jessica P? She used to be attractive but from what I've seen of SitC, she's gaunt and muscle-toned so she looks like a drag queen in those dreadful frocks. UK's own Kim Cattrall, may be the oldest but she's also the best looking IMHO.
Bring back "Taxi", my fave US soap.

ah, I did it! The silly program debuted, ran its course, and exited...without ME ever seeing one minute of it!. *grin* I did that with 90210 and "Friends" also...I'm getting GOOD at spotting cliché ridden, 20-something pandering in its infancy.

(But I can often find re-runs of "Hill Street Blues") ;>)

Yes, Sarah J-P has been looking fairly stringy recently. I think she overdid the 'getting back into shape' after pregnancy.

Now I remember Kim Catterall as a Vulcan in one of the Star Trek films.... the contrast between her and Samantha is mind boggling!

Frasers' inside leg......

Nurse, the screens!

It went out very tastefully.

But I don't understand how they can walk around in some of those outfits and a) not freeze to death and b) not get picked up by the fashion police.

I liked the chatter and the Macs and the awful clothes - but it always made my jaw drop the way they'd leap into bed with people they'd only just met. Heavens! Wouldn't you be a bit shy?

It was a show I felt I was supposed to like but ended up thinking it was just dumb. My television vice is Hockey Night In Canada and other than that The Discovery Channel gets a lot of milage. News, particularly international, and the occassional Star Trek and Law & Order, round out my viewing pleasures.

Sorry to dissent, but I honestly thought SITC was shallow and predictable. Then again, I understand from my kids that I'm not very hip.

Mudcat's much more enjoyable.

Peace, Mooh.

I've never seen it, but my true love watched it once and said it was all talk, no sex. False advertising again!

Your true love is keeping things from you, Leeneia--SITC made a point of having sex of one kind or another in every episode--it was the kind sex you see in cable adult movies, if you go for that kind of thing. Knowing his interests from other threads, I am surprised BillD didn't make a point of checking it out--

Martin Gibson, we are finding out that there is more to you than just Bluegrass music and cranky politics:-)

I never saw it before this year, but got to see everything from last year and this year through the miracle of on demand cable--I checked it out because the theme for the Christmas window display at Barney's this last time around was SITC, and, having never seen it, I had know idea what it was about--

I don't think it was very original, the only thing that I hadn't seen before on TV was the sex, and most of that I could have done without----it was like an updated version of "Crossing Delancy" that ditched the little old jewish ladies and gave everyone glamorous careers--also lifted very much from "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd" which was a much better series--

Yeah, M.Ted, I have been opening up a little more lately.
Kind of feels good.
There are many sides to intensity.

But I did just rip into a self-proclaimed dyke on the obit arab guy terroist thread.

And do tell us please, GUEST Martin Gibson, what exactly is WRONG with someone being a self-proclaimed dyke, and how is is relevant in any way to the subject under discussion?

Careful now, your bigotry is showing......

Well, let me tell you O hidden coward who found a new name to post under for this purpose only.

What was RIGHT with her self-proclaimed commie, dyke rant in the context of this subject thread other to flaunt it.

She, in her own words admitted that she was a fat, disgusting , commie dyke and I guess I had to just agree that she was right.

Now, please go directly to your room and continue wimpering.
