Down Folly Lane. I'll tell the teacher and you'll get the cane! Folly Lane is a road that runs between Swinton and Eccles. It was once a very important highway when it was used by all the people in the Swinton area to get to Church in Eccles. that makes this localised but is anyone aware of any other localisations or chants of a sililar nature? I can catch up then" Not this year you can't - dates for Lent (which starts on Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day/Mardi Gras) and Easter happen to coincide this year between the Western and the Eastern Churches. That's quite unusual. Here is a calendar of these feasts for the next few years. |

There's three of them, one on Walnut Street in Shadyside, one on Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill, and one on Forbes Avenue in Oakland. They've got the best pancakes anywhere. I believe they will serve them with strawberries and whipped cream. But I prefer the traditional maple syrup. (Lemon juice?) |
