Initially it will be a singalong folk club with the intention at some point of having guest artists.

If there is anybody who is coming along and particularly wants to sing, can you please let me know in advance, so that I can do my best to accomodate you (that doesn't mean put you up for the night :-)).
Thanks
Les

I'd be happy to come and sing a couple of songs, ask oaklet if I'm good enough. I'm one of the south Humber mob, friend of Karen & Colin, Oaklet, Skipjack et al.
Any more folk music in the area is good, I particularly like sessions, so the last hour idea is a good one. If you are short on spotlighters, you can extend it back through the evening. Please, however, no singarounds! Dull, dull, dull. All fat blokes in glasses droning on (no, nothing like me) or Norma Waterson manqué lady singers. Good luck from the north of the county.

That sounds great Bloke In the Corner. Whats your first name?
Icidentally I'm a big bloke (20stone 6ft tall) with glasses, but fortunately I dont sing or play.
I agree, I'm not much in favour of people sitting in their chair hiding themselves away whilst they sing.
Thats why I thought the workshop concept might work. I obviously need leaders of each group with the people who are not happy standing out at the front mingling in with them.. Not exactly sure when to allot the time. Might do that in the middle of the night. My teminology on folk is outdated, so I am trying to get up to scratch.
Getting conflicting comments. One very notable point was to put your best artist on last of all, because thats what most folkies like best.
I tend to agree with that providing whoever it is , is ok with that.
That might be CARA or Stitherum on the first night.
I assume from what you said that you are probably a bit like Strollin' Johnny??? or maybe not. I would like to add your name next to him in terms of artist. Is that OK or do you think you are as good as Stitherum or Cara. Honesty please.:-)
Cheers
Les

Don't know Sitherum, I'm not in the same league as Cara, but most people reckon I can hold a tune - I always like others singing/playing along with me.
Which thread would you like me to post on?
