Hi, just wanted to let this community know of a good deed in which I am involved - bringing free music to people who can't get out and hear music, mostly because of being in hospitals or old folks' homes. Check out our website and see what we're up to - and also if anybody wants to advertise with us, we're getting our first newsletter together, I can get you a price since I know you!

Hi, Mrr - I see your mission statement:
We make music more accessible through a unique partnership of musicians, media, businesses and volunteers.
-but how does it work?

Thanks for fixing the blicky issue, elves. In answer to Joe's question, Greg Allen, who is a way cool guy and a musician, started collecting volunteer musicians who wanted more audiences and getting them to play in old folks' homes, and it kind of snowballed from there. He now also gets media and businesses to sponsor SongSharing (by just donating $$ or goods or by buying ad space in our newsletter - for instance, a print shop is doing the newsletter in exchange for being prominently mentioned as a sponsor) and uses the money to put on concerts that benefit somebody or something, or to pay for ads calling for more volunteer musicians, to add more old folks' homes or childrens' hospitals to the list of places he has people play regularly, etc. All very local, very Charlottesville music scene, but REM have been big into it, we're working on Dave Matthews and Devon Sproule; we got local musicians to donate all those CDs for the troops, sending a big box of Charlottesville music to them, and hope not to repeat that endeavor this summer. If you want the local music scene to know about you, this is a good place to advertise. If you just want to support our efforts, we accept donations and when we achieve non-profit status later this year, you'll get a tax write-off too... plug, plug!
