Hello BobvG
Current expected pipers to lead are Neil Smith and Nick Leeming.
Most of the core of the Newcastle based Robson's choice comprising some of the most proficient pipers on the circuit will be here as well. If you haven't seen or heard Neil Smith you will be in for a treat. Usually about 20 pipers in all plus assorted other musicians. All playing Northumbrian tunes in F - the peoples key ;-)
Pass the word on please.
Cheers
Ged

Gedpipes, who would you reckon are . . not so much the top players but the top Northumbrian Pipe makers at present?

A difficult question to answer without appearing biased and opening myself up to a stream of invective.
For an objective view you would have to go to the NSP website which lists the makers with prices and delivery times etc.
My own pipes are made by Colin Ross.
Most makers have their own web sites: Ray Sloan, Barry Say, Richard & Anita Evans etc etc. (Andy May is starting to make pipes and he is playing at the Bell Hotel in Driffield on April 15th with Simon Haworth if that is not far from where you are.)
There are makers in the US as well.
If you are thinking of having a set made I suggest that you talk to as many pipers as possible - of course you can meet a lot of these on Saturday night ;-)
All the best
Ged

In NSpipe circles Colin Ross is known as 'God'.
I have a set of his pipes - a keyless set and he also 'fettled' my old 9 key set, both of which play beautifully.
However, he has a long waiting list so a set of C.R. pipes might be wishful thinking! All the others on Ged's list are good too.

Thanks for all coming - a very pleasant night had by all - and a recording to follow thanks to the hard work of John O' Harp.
Little Robyn knows of course that the NSP world is a pantheistic sect and would never endorse one supreme being ;-)
Shame you could'nt make it Rock Chick.
Cheers and see you next year.

Yes, all went as planned. The CD is available from Gedpipes (PM)
But he is off the air for the next 2wks' due to a computer upgrade. So you will have to be patient. Its a 80min CD. (well 78min!) So its worth the wait! Its a good clear, honest recording, and Iam very pleased with the results. A must have CD for all serious pipers, as all harmonies are included. Special thanks from me go to; Dicky Deegan, Neil Smith,
Nick Leeming, Mike Nelson/Steve Warne-guitar. Robsons Choice-fantastic stuff! The fiddler's Bassic&friend, and Dicky Deegan for the Ullean pipes solo. And too many to list!! But most of all, I think you'd agree, Gerard-Gedpipes, for making it happen. Yours, Fat Pig studio.
