09 Mar 04 - 11:52 AM (#1132115) Subject: Waltzing MAtilda, Scottish Tune From: GUEST,Duncan I caught the very end of a programme on the radio that seemed to state that the common tune for Waltzing Matilda was taken from an older Scottish song. Can anyone shed any light on the original song. Sorry if this is common knowledge, couldn't find anything on it. |

Among earlier discussions, these two probably contain most on the development of the tune: Tune Req: Thou Bonnie Wood of Craigielee Craigielee/Waltzing Matilda |

From your response it appears you *DID* search - but "search and ye shall find" unfortunately doesn't always apply. It is nice to know that people try rather then just come in expecting someone else to search for them. |
