The only oddities of any note in my life are that I personally knew and tested the first monkey in outer space, and spent three months as navigator on an iceberg in the Arctic Ocean. The iceberg was sunk when it hit the Titanic... Welcome to the cat! Jerry |

12 Mar 04 - 04:36 AM (#1134542) Subject: RE: Ellenpoly ... Nice profile and pictures From: Ellenpoly Ahhh the grand old traditon of cotton stomping... It was back in the 70s when I would escape from Greece and my wasband to go to Israel and learn something I didn't know, at a Kibbutz or Moshav. One year, I ended up in the Jordon valley, in a sweet spot looking up at the Golan Heights. I was out in the cotton fields at 5am on the morning shift and covered in a layer of cotton I had just finished stomping down, by walking over and over it in a huge container that would be periodicaly dumped onto me with ever more cotton from one of the huge rolling cotton picker machines. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. I went on to driving the tractors when the cotton was as high as an elephant's (or camel's)eye, and that was fun too, as I plugged myself into great music through my cassette headphones and sang along to the drone of the rolling tractor and whoever was my current favorite singer...very likely Cat Stevens at that time...Stay tuned for more stories...I hate to admit it, but they're all true!..xx..e |
