Bull at Barton Beds 22nd March

14 Mar 04 - 04:40 AM (#1135984)
Subject: Bull at Barton Beds 22nd March
From: The Unicorn Man

Next Monday The Bull in Barton le Clay Beds. Will be host to Theo Thomas and Janet Strapp and friends. They were both members of The Goose and Grid Iron Band, so any Ceilidh dudes come on down and join in. We will have our two hour Sing a Round as ever 8.30-10.30pm. Then let Janet and Theo loose. Also I am thinking of doing a Bedfordshire Day of Song in the Autumn. It will be held in the function room at The Bull. It will be a bit like The Hertforshire Day of Song, only in Bedfordshire. Comments please and who is up for it?

Cheers Ross. I have to confirm with the rest of The Folkaholicks,I should manage that tonight at Chesham. The next Charity Mic Night is in aid of Doog's mum's Charity, Luton Womens Aid and not The Pasque Hospice. But that line up for the Summer and Autumn of the year looks very cool dude. Went to George Norris's Sing a Round on Sunday, very nice, that bloke from Shave the Monkey was there. That was good, and it was near the place I went to the other Sunday when I was suppost to be some where else.

Re: 24th May. I haven't cancelled this gig (yet?) I certainly haven't said that Lorna can have it. As far as I'm concerned I'm still in the frame. Unless you have decided to make other arrangments, I'm still in negotiation over fulfilling this gig.

Cheers

Hamish. Not dead yet.

Hi Martin/Ross,

See I'm sharing 19th April with Ashwell Mummers. What's the plan for the evening then? Or is plan a silly word to use? Sounds interesting though!

Can't make coming Monday, going to Chesham to hear Robin Laing. Try to make the Paul Simon do though.

Subject: RE: Bull at Barton Beds 22nd March

Hi Steve - I think it's similar to the Mummers play but involves wooing as a theme rather than christmas

They'll kick us off at 8.30pm then singaround will follow and you'll be on from about 10.30pm to close us out

All subject to Martin changing it

Look forward to seeing you

Bodmin Fridays at the Garland Ox, but stuck in a Trad rut, run by committee who are inward looking, but they do book guests, but not entertainers, so you wont see george Papavgeris evr play there, but Anahata and Johnny Collins are acceptable.
they do have a picture of Vin Garbutt, cos thats the best they can afford, btw I've got him rebooked for May 2005.
As far as other folk clubs go Cornwall is naff
Sessions but thet tend to be tunes.
Boscastle the Wellington Mons
Trewarmett Lodge near Tintagel Weds an can go on till late if edwina is in the mood.
All decent folk clubs stop in Devon cos there are no entrpren'ral folk club organisers in cornwall any more.
Have a peaceful week away.

Hi Martin - it was a busy night Monday

Many thanks to Tony Vasse, John Birch, Julie Berrill & Rod, John & wife, Bert Tann & Pat, Mike Orwin, Ron, Guests Theo & Janet & Roy, Derek Girvan, Dave Auld & Tina and Martin Dent and the mystery singer

I agree with you, with me it was 19 (14 performers & five listeners)

Bert's e-mailed me and said in the new folk mag, it's a four quid entry - do you know what he's talking about?

Yes, he means The Spring Song Sessions that are in the function room. It's four pounds to get in, the guest gets three pounds, and we get a pound and any money we make on a raffle. One of Breezys better ideas. It's £4.00 on every night except on June 7th where it is now free. Plus did you know Paul Simon has his own thread? I know Breezy does cos he's been on it all ready.

Thanks Martin - I don't think I read the Unicorn very well

I'll e-mail Bert - maybe he's confused & thinks all Monday nights are £4

I didn't know Paul Simon had his own thread - it's a bit boring though

Could do with some sexing up

Did you know Paul Simon has a tattoo of the Mona Lisa on his left testicle - she has a beard though
