A chum of mine has a list (About 35 titles) of Laser Disk movies he's looking to get out of his house...

Anybody here collect 'em?

I have a stack of them, and the player to play `em on. Can you send a list of titles?

Cheers,
Michael

what are they? like dvd's opnly biggerr?
i once had some discs for an Optigon - an organ-like

unstrument which like a player piano used discs
for automatic playing...

i know this is total thread creep
and i am a creep for being such
but i once came upong some of these
discs...like actate discs with black
spiral "groove" painted on....and the
instrument was at the salvation army.

I hope the discs you are talking about find a good home!

I have a friend who has a laser disk player and a stack of disks. If you can post a list of the movies I'll pass it along to him and see if he's interested in any of them. Are they for sale or up for grabs?

Thanks for posting that list. My two laser disk folks here looked at it and said they already have the titles on it that they would want.

I'd be interested in "The Abyss", and in "Nosferatu" if it's the remake with Klaus Kinski.

What do the stars signify, Clinton?

Cheers,
Michael

Teh stars were hold overs from back when he was a little more flush and wanted to replace 'em on DVD before he got rid of them...

I donno what version of Nosferatu it is... I'll ask him...

Well, for 20 bucks I can get the DVD with added features. I was thinking more like five... plus shipping...

It is, after all, obsolete technology.

Michael

That's what my friend said--laser disks fall in between VCR technology (low end) and DVD technology (high end) and they're obsolete. If your friend is giving them to a good home, he might find some takers. But trying to sell them for more than the price of postage is going to be difficult. Try Ebay. If no one bites there, then finding a good home is probably the best he can hope for.

Can't have something on what you haven't got...

When my chum said 20 he was probably assuming that included the price of shipping... I suspect moving them one at a time is gonna be much more hassle than it's worth...

I'll send the list to my cousin -- who has a fine collection of laser disc films with particular emphasis on early film.

And, yes, he also collects Edison wax cylinders AND machines (cylinder and disc). When he was in high school he built an exact copy of Edison's first cylinder machine.

He'd probably be more interested in a price for the lot rather than cherry picking.

This is not spam or anything annoying like that.

I work for goodwill industries of the chesapeake in maryland. I just recently processed a donation of six crates of laserdisks including a live performance by Lenny Bruce. I am looking for any collectors who might be interested in buying the lot. I can provide a list of titles and release dates.

If any one is interested, respond here or at Nankipu@webtv.net and I can give you all the information.
