The chorus is this: " Curse and swear Lord Kildare/Feich will do what Feich will dare/Now Prince William have a care/Fallen is your star-lo/Up with halberd out with sword/On we'll go for by the Lord/Feich McCool (McCuill? not sure how it is spelled in Gaelic) has given his word/Follow Me Up To Carlow " Who is Feich? Is it a variation on the name Fionn McCool of the Fianna or is this a different person? And what's the history behind the song? Thank you :) |

Try using the Lyrics & Knowledge Search, e.g., typing in "up to carlow", with both the DT and Forum boxes checked, and clicking "Search". Fiac MacHugh (O'Byrne) is the fellow in the song - no relation at all to the other fellow with the Fianna. Pete |
