Delete Spam

I'd personally be in favor of letting those Mudcatters with editorial rights DELETE THE SPAM, but I also appreciate how much Mudcat does go unedited.
I started this thread so that, if others see the Spam thread and want to vent(or vote for deletion), we can talk here, and the "Turn $6 into $42,000" thread can sink to the bottom of the list like a stone.
Blessings,
Barbara

I agree, delete the $6 thread. Pyramid schemes end up hurting more people than they help.

That one is probably illegal. Kill it.

It certainly has my vote for deletion. I despise such use of forums! 'Sides - I have never yet seen any of those things that were worth the effort to read them. As the Postmaster General used to say about the same sort of things one receives in the mail, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't."

I was going to post a response to the greatest scheme ever devised by the devious mind of ^#$&^%*&*, but I decided not to. If I had, I would have said, please let my post be the last so that it can sink like the stone that it is.

Of course, here we are talking about the poor fellow behind his back, when all he wants to do is get rich~~at our expense, of course. I guess he underestimates the intelligence of those who come here! By the way, I checked, it is the only post by the author, at least under that name.

OK, now it's my turn~~Anybody wanna buy a bridge, or an automatic banjo tuner, guaranteed to keep your banjo in tune forever?

Oh, should have mentioned: I had the sink like a stone thought independent of the mention by Barbara. What's that about great minds??

If you want to buy a bridge, contact your state highway dept. They have bridges they sell every so often--get someone to move them. Cheaper than tearing them down.

Whoever did it, Thank you! I appreciate it when people throw out the trash, instead of leaving it lying around.

If a message is obviously spam, of no value to anyone here, it's easy to delete. However, if there are responses that do have some value, then that poses a moral dilemna for those of us who have "edit" buttons. If we delete the offensive message, then the responses make no sense. So....it's best not to respond to spam at all. It will die a natural death and disappear in a day's time if nobody replies, or it might be deleted completely.
I'm still puzzled about who has "edit" buttons around here. It's obvious that Max has Total And Absolute Power To Do Whatever He Darn Well Pleases, and one might imagine that the same may be true (but maybe not) for Dick and Susan. I have my suspicions about one other person, but I can't be sure - and I suspect there may be others. Heck, mine is the only "edit" button people know about for sure, since I'm the only one who was dumb enough to get caught. I guess the others have a little more finesse....

"...Whom the Gods wish to bewilder, they first give edit buttons..."

(by the way...while surfing for versions of the above, I came upon THIS! ...a site which publishes Haiku about SPAM!..they seem to have over 10,000! Some folk have too much time on their hands....)

Letting it die by itself is all very well and good, but it didn't work with the Bob Dylan/aids thread. Sometimes I wish other aspects of my life had an edit button.
