Following on from George's hugely succesful CD launch last Friday he will be 'In the Spotlight'

featuring a clutch of songs from his latest Cd

on Sunday 28th March
at the St Albans 'Windward-Spotlight' folk-song club

In The Royal British Legion, Verulam Road, St Albans.

Also in support: The ref, Moses, Chris Flegg plus many more

Doors open 7.30 for an 8.00 p.m. prompt start
adm only £3 plus floor spots available although please ring to make sure of a spot.

This a friendly and relaxing club that makes everyone feel welcome and at home, at least thats what we think because everyone who comes ,says so.

At the risk of scope creep...

...I don't think that'd be the most diplomatic move I could make right now. Good idea, mind, as far as crap ideas go...

The Golden Lion in Port Issac North Cornwall, with a roaring fire and a balcony over looking the sea, how does that sound?

I forgot to mention, the last two times we were there, they were singing, first time on the balcony of The Golden Lion Pub, and the other on the Slipway early evening, all amped up, very nice. Sorry George you can have your thread back now, see you soon.

Thanks George - it was a great set and I really enjoyed it

As a wannabe/have a go songwriter myself

I'm really jealous you manage to find so many lines in every song which expresses a simple truth with so much power & catchability

No question - the progressions and delivery on the twelve string are very memorable

Ross,
you are very kind indeed. Mind you, you should see some of the rubbish generated on the way! I really liked your last song on Sunday - very cleverly constructed!

Cheers George - here's the words in case you couln't work out my mumbling singing

British Legionnaires

Every Sunday evening, we pop/ out down for a /pint                        G/C/G
At the British Legion Club in Verulam/ Road                        G/D
We/ pull out all our instruments of/ torture, we all/ know                 /G/C/G
That sends the buggers/ screaming down/ below                        G/D/G

        There's /Breezy at the helm, but he's /looking very down         /C/G
        Co's he's kneesy's are not looking very /brown                 /D

Every Sunday evening, we pop/ out down for a /pint                        G/C/G
At the British Legion/ Club in Verulam/ Road                         /D/G

We are the British/ Legionnaires                                        C/G
        We're /up for a laugh and we're not/ all there                         /D/G run to C
We are the British/ Legionnaires                                        C/G
        Sing a song/play a/ tune and we'll be/ there                         /D/G
                                                                Repeat chorus & last line
Every Monday morning, I wake up with such a start
It seems I've had a terrible dream
The music and the weekend seem a million miles away
And the work and life that's in between

There's Breezy being funny, as he takes away our money
The luxury raffle prizes are a whirl

Every Sunday evening, we pop/ out down for a /pint
At the British Legion Club in Verulam/ Road

We are the British/ Legionnaires
We're up for a laugh and we're not all there
We are the British/ Legionnaires
        Sing a song/play a/ tune and we'll be/ there                Repeat chorus & last line

Every Sunday morning the anticipation grows
Hidden stars of music come out to play
In a world of television, celebrities and pop
We must ensure that all will have their day

There's Breezy being tactful, as he makes another tactile
error, that would make a saint explode

Every Sunday evening, we pop/ out down for a /pint
At the British Legion Club in Verulam/ Road

We are the British/ Legionnaires
We're up for a laugh and we're not all there
We are the British/ Legionnaires
Sing a song/play a/ tune and we'll be/ there                Repeat chorus twice & last line

Yeah - it's a bit quiet

Wonder if Martin's got a job in a tin mine & is now living with Snow White

Cornwall is a strange place - it's the rays that emanate form the granite rocks
