Will ask the guy who sings it, but might not run into him for a while. In the mean time, could you please let me know if you find anything out about it, as I really like that song as well. Cheers, Sophie |

01 Apr 02 - 05:36 PM (#681001) Subject: When Will We Be Married From: GUEST,jamie Hello out there, On the Waterboys' album "Fisherman's Blues," they do a song called "When Will We Be Married." They note that it's a traditional tune, but I've not found it in any collections of folk music or on the internet. Does anyone know if this song has an alternate title by which it's better known? I'm looking for the guitar chords and melody. It's a nice, creepy Irish song. Thanks. Jamie |

I heard a local (Calif.) band play "Fisherman's Blues" the other day, and it made me nostalgic for the `Boys. That's still one of my favorite albums. Cheers, Michael |

I'm not familiar with the Waterboys output but I know some songs that might fit if it's trad. Although I can't imagine a pop group singing the ones I know. |

I heard somebody play the tune in a session last week; they thought it was an Irish polka but couldn't remember where they got it. I used to hear the song in sessions about ten years ago. |
30 Mar 11 - 05:04 PM (#3125098) Subject: RE: Origins: Waterboys: when will we be married,Molly From: Steve Gardham Hmmm. Not British traditional. And it's not in any of my extensive indexes. There are plenty of Johnny and Molly songs but this isn't any of the ones in my indexes. I'll have a look at the Roud Index. Is that the title as given on the CD? |
30 Mar 11 - 05:15 PM (#3125110) Subject: RE: Origins: Waterboys: when will we be married,Molly From: Steve Gardham Nothing in Roud resembling this under 'Johnny, Molly or When will we be married'. Perhaps they meant the tune was trad. |
